install pics too come. ok first off these are e46 projectors BI-XENON out of an 03 m3. they are sexy I love them thanks for all the compliments. w/ alignment it me and my buddy 2 hours. i need to get pics of it during the day and up against a flat wall. a lot of cuting was involved but i love it. complimenting the projectors are 04 is300 hids the entire set up cost me 150 that's hids and projectors i got hooked up big time. They are the biggest retro fit done in a maxima housing i do believe i haven't seen bigger LOL. OH ya and i didn't paint the inside black like everyone else. gotta be different. for those of you that are going to Nopi Nats here in AZ i will be showing street class.

Question. When a car with oem hids comes in with broken/scratched headlights, does the shop just use brand new assemblies vs just replacing the parts? If so, what does the bodyshop typically do with the broken parts? ie.. housings might broken but the ballasts/bulbs/projectors might be okay.

Maybe if they sell just the housings etc.. But if they just sell the entire headlight assembly as a unit, somebody has some nice HID's
I do wonder where the h3ll they get all of those projectors/ballasts/bulbs sets on ebay.

a shop owner i spoke to said as far as he knew his guys just throw that stuff away and replace the car with new stuff. i was shocked and asked him if he'd save them for me because i want to do a retrofitting project. he said yeah sure but seemed to have no idea what i was talking about. that's also the reason i wouldn't go to this shop for any work, but was an interesting fact. i'm gonna have to stop by and see if they'll hook me up like they said or if that's all talk.

Most body shops DO replace the damaged parts with new ones, but keep in mind that the Ballasts are RARELY replaced, unless they dont know what they are doing. You can however get a nice set of projectors since those are what the replace no matter what is wrong with them, whether it be a scratch or whatever.
Good luck getting balasts, they are hard to find at shops...

Great job. Mad props!! I am just starting up with retro project and was wondering how e46 bazels would look in 4th gen housings. I hope you don't mind if I will bug you with some questions.
Just one so far to warm up. How did you wire the whole thing, did you use any online resources that you could point me and other guys you consder doing this?

wire? as far as the ballasts and stuff like that? if that is the case the easiest is to cut the stock harness and connect the power and ground. Black to black. and on the wiring harness the center wire is the low beam power that is connected to the red wire off the ballast. I will help you with any of your wiring needs and questions. also www.hidforum.com is a great help. the high beam shutter will be hooked up soon

one thing though don't be afraid to cut. you might be worried about messing up but if you measure twice cut once you'll have no problems at all. this was my first retro and it's amazing I love it soo much and i have gotten a few local compliments too. from non maxima owners
