How do you feel about your maxima?
Well I'm new here, I'm usually on Nissanforums.com anyways I have a Nissan 200sx... I'm tired of it because its purple and an automatic..I really like maximas I have for years now. I havent drove in one yet, but I would like to know if the car feels like large to people that are familar with little coupes such as my car. I just want to know if the maxima handles well and feels tight and not to large thanks..

the car will need suspension mods and still will not feel as sporty as your 200 did.
faster? yes.
tighter? no.
can't expect to drive a maxima and have it feel (steering wise) like a little two-door... because it's not a little two-door. I still love my car, it does not handle poorly by any means, and I would rather drive it than an old automatic 200sx.
test drive a maxima, judge for yourself. only way to do it.

My Maxima f**king sucks. I hate it. POS jap car!
lol
J/k. It's one bad a$$ jap. It IS the best car money can buy for say under $10k. Comon, we got a lot of power. I don't see our year camrys, accords, and others being able to hit high 14's in the quarter mile, STOCK.
Also, maximas look good. It may be a sedan, but honestly I've always like sport sedans. It's cool how we can keep up with or even ***** on our gen mustang GT. The other cool thing is we got 4 disc brakes, which I really like. Accords and Camrys and others alike don't come 5-spd with a V6, so there's a big +. All my cars have been 5-spd and always will.....
unless........well.......damn SMG is taking over! GRRRRRRR
Not the same ride if you ask me

just wish it was 70 degree weather so i can replace my strut mounts
and i should've gotten one besides an automatic cali spec; but we all make mistakes

i look at my car everyday and think "damn i love that car." this is the first car that is all mine. and im so glad its a max, cuz im going to be stuck with it for a long time. there isn't much else i would trade for. i love the styling, i love the .org, i love the mods i haven't even done yet, etc.... seriously i don't have a single complaint about my car, except sometimes i wish i had a 5speed.

I've have mine for over 4 years now and I still look at it like I just picked it up yesterday. I like it so much, I bought another maxima to help keep my baby off the road under poor conditions. I also have a bronco, so the 2nd maxima doesn't have to go out either. Yes, I need help, but your question is answered!

Don't forget that other sedans (e.g. M5) eat us for lunch.

Chances are that's the case 99.9999% of the time, no matter how heavily modded you may be.

its an all around great car other than the fact that mine is 10 years old and starting to have problems. (yeah there are people that own older cars.) even though its a 4 door sedan, it still has the looks, power, torque, and handling most family sedans in the cateogory dont have. it still has its problems tho, which are pissing me off right now. i still yearn to drive a brand spankin new car, but who doesnt.
its a love-hate relationship with cars.

When I first test drove my maxima, I was asking the salesman where do I sign after I took off from a red light. As long as you keep it maintained it will be good to you, yeah stuff happens but when it runs right, it runs right! I got a cold air intake, changed the plugs recently, cleaned the throttle body last weekend and run some fuel system cleaner through it and it runs about better than when I first test drove it. Raced a 2004 maxima the other day, I'm guessing he's realizing that stock and 250+ horsepower doesn't always mean alot.

I'm in love with mine! Let's not forget the reliability! While all of my other friends are talking about taking their cars to the shop, I can sit there and take mine for a cruise! 205K and have had nothing major go wrong. Only regular maintenance, ie. oil change, spark plugs, belts, brakes, tires, one ball joint, knock sensor (recently). Soon to change the axles due to some cracked boots and an O2 sensor.
Many other cars would only give you headaches once you hit 100K but mine only satisfies my dreams and fantisies of what owning a maxima is all about!
Plus what everyone else has said.

I had a 1991 honda prelude before my max. It was a small coupe like the 200sx. It was fun to drive but underpowered, too small and felt like a toy. To be honest, the maxima is a HUGE improvement. The extra room and power go a long way. Besides, the amenities you can get on a maxima are nice too (leather, climate control, etc...) I say go for a 5 speed and you won't regret it.

I just test drove my first Maxima (I'm picking it up this Saturday - 1997 Maxima SE) and I have to say that as much as I loved the power of the car, the handling wasn't as tight as I thought it would be.
The steering is light, typical of most Japanese cars, but for a sport sedan, I thought it would be a little tighter. It definetely felt big, even after i got out of my Toyota Sienna, it still felt big. The steering was on the slowish side and was about as direct as a Camry.
Perhaps I had my hopes set too high because up until the Maxima, the best handling cars I'd driven were a Mini Cooper and an Infinti G20 (tiny, maneuverable cars) and I expected the Maxima to be similar.
The engine is beautiful though, lots of torque and the sound....damn...the sound. In the end, I bought one, so decide for yourself and schedule a test drive.

After 10-1/2 years of ownership. I am just as enthused about the car as the day I bought it! The car has been virtually trouble free. Given 57,400 mostly highway miles, I am sure I will have this car for many years to come.

Happy with it
For a $6000 practical car, my 95 SE-L 5-speed with 70,000 mi beats the hell out of alternatives I initially looked at, like the same old '99 Corolla with no performance and no amenities that everyone else is driving to get groceries.
Imagine if I'd wanted sheer fun could have found something better, but it's got plenty of power and class for the price and for being a family sedan.
