CF mirror cover installation question

Folks, does anyone here have experience installing a set of CF mirror covers on their Max? These are just the shells that go over the existing mirrors. I have a set to install and understand how to install them using 3M tape, but I could use some helpful little hints any of you might have picked up to make the installation easier and more effective. We all know we pick up little tricks that can be helpful during the time we are struggling with installing or fixing something. I hope someone has some little trick that can make this go well for me. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

So this doesn't replace any part of an existing mirror, it just goes on top?

I was hoping to find someone who would be willing to sell their original mirror backs in ruby pearl...

Exactly, Max. These are simply shells that go over the existing mirrors. Nothing is removed.

Theirs really no trick involved, its pretty simple.

Do the test fit and take note on which areas of the shell actually make contact woith the mirror.
In those areas simply trim a nice strip of tape and place it on the mirror.
Take head not to use to much tape as it will become too thick and some areas and cause the cover to have gaps in between the sheel and actual mirror.
Example, too much tape in the back of the shell will cause the front of it to have gaps.
Your basicly just going to have to play with them untill you get the fit you like.

also, prep the are real good before applying the tape or it will not stick as well.
Clean the inside of the shell with an alcohol pad and the actual mirror cover on the car to insure both areas are clean.
If you prep the area really well, the tape will stick like a m*therf#cker and you will not have to worry about them coming off.

Mirror covers are no longer available, unless bought used.
I purchased my pillars from IonicDynamics.

Flave, I really appreciate your help with this. No mod, big or small, is just a matter of being simple. Every little job has its own tricks to make it work right. I figured the King of Carbon Fiber could help out, and you did. Now I have to simply be careful and patient and do it right. My CF won't show up as nicely as yours due to my color, but it should blend well. That white Max with all the CF accent is hot!
