Aftermarket Starters?

I think my starter might be bad. When I start my car, especially on cold days, it starts up for a second, the the RPM's drop down and it stalls out. If I just rev it for a sec to keep the RPM's up, it's fine. It also tends to make a weird "grinding" noise when I start it sometimes, even if the engine is already warm. Does that sound like a starter issue? Anyone else had this problem? If so, do they make aftermarket starters that are better than OEM (like Bosch)? Anyone know any good sites where I can get em cheap? Thanks

A starter is a starter.....any kind you get will most likely be a remanufactured NISSAN one.

i think you want like a high trq starter.that is not really needed. i doubt there are many maxima's out there with comp. higher than 13:1:1. so a general nisan reman. is fine.

you have 2 diffrent problems here my friend. clean your t/b and change your starter.

your stalling cause of your t/b being dirty and of course the grinding noise is your starter.
i had the same issues with the stalling right after start, cleaned the t/b and blamm. works great with no stalling right at start..

When my starter died I got a high torque starter. It's still made for a nissan, but it works pretty well.

I had the same problem. I had to replace starter, knock sensor, evaporation canister (not sure if all three are connected with the problems though)

You can get a starter from autozone or a place like that, just have them to look up your vin number and they'll tell you exactly which one you need.
