I own a '99 Maxima SE and I was wondering if the body is made from aluminum or fiberglass or some other type of composite? I saw a similar Maxima with a smashed in rear quarter panel and it looked to be some sort of composite material....thanks!

Your Maxima body panels are made of stamped steel. Verify this by touching your car's bodywork with a small magnet.

It is possible the damaged panel had been repaired at some prior time with a thin coating of Bondo, and that's what you saw.
