Hacked Air Box

I was reading the FAQs/How to's and saw the hacked ar box mod. I was just wanting to clear things up before i do it.

I know the HP will not increase, i just want a good sound. Is all i do just cut out the lower air box at the front (towards battery) and driver side? Can i remove the cold air scoop (above radiator to air box) without problem? Also what is the thing under the battery that connects into the scoop, should i also remove it? Should i do this in conjunction with the OSCAI(sp?)

Also where can i get replacement clips that hold the airbox together? I lost one of mine.
Any comments and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and i know this is

On a side not where is the best place to get strut bearings. I am replacing my struts soon and was told to do this also.

www.pinnaclenissan.com check parts, it's about $30 for the strut bearings, they call them strut mounts, they have the same part#.

Just do the OSCAI instead of hacking it.

You could also find the clips you mentioned at pinnacle also, but probably have to buy the whole bottm piece of the box, as the clips aren;t sold separately.

thank you for the replies. Is there a reason you say do the OSCAi instead of hacking it? Will i still get a good sound from it?

I have OSCAI and hacked air box. Not sure how well the OSCAI is working though as I have always been told that 'air takes the path of least resistance.' So, this theory in mind, the air would most likely just get sucked in through the hole in my airbox and not through my funnel under my car.

I have been thinkin about riding over to a junk yard and seeing if I can snag another lower portion of the air box to see if I can feel a difference.

Anyways, the sound with the hacked air box is pretty awesome IMHO. I have also had a frankencar hybrid on my car before this and I think it sounds 1000x better than the frankencar. Plus, I got all my low end back when I switched back to stock intake

Basically a hacked air box is just taking a saw or dremel and taking the sides out of the bottom portion of the box. This makes it where the filter is just held up by the bottom part of the box and there is nothing else before it. You can keep the funnel thing or put a cold air tube or something but this seems to be a simple and cheap solution to an intake.
