Oil Pressure sensor

soon after i bought this max, i looked under and saw the unplugged oil pressure sensor. the connection was dangling right next to it, however all beaten. the plastic pieces were all broken off the sensor housing and stuck inside the connector. i plugged it back in, and when i started the engine i got CEL. I reset the ECU and it came back again. i gave up that night and went to bed thinking i could get the code in the morn... but the CEL was gone when i started the car in the morn... anyone have any ideas as to what has happened and if i should try to extract the code anyway?

and just to make sure, there should be only one connection wire and prong to the sensor right?

Well those things leak most of the time anyway. Get one at any auto parts store. They say the OEM one is just going to leak again. I guess try to get a needle nose pliers or something and get the pieces of the old one out.

I would think there would be a code if it was not plugged in at all. I don't remember how many wires are in the connection.

lately when i drive around , brake hard or turn hard, the oil pressure CEL blinks / turns on for a sec or 2 and disapears.. what could it be? I have checked my oil, ( it needs to be changed ) and i have replaced the oil sending unit about a year ago.

In the event that there is low oil pressure(dying/dead oil pump) the oil cel will trigger. Thus you pull over/stop driving.. no-low oil pressure you engine will blow.

It went away cause the contact was maybe better etc.Also maybe be triggered when you drive around.Just replace the sensor & getting a grip on it is a pain though,,small channel locks work.

low oil pressure

I notice some times that the low oil light comes on at stop lights. But I think because I always put in 1 quart of 20-50 in the winter, it will come on when it's at idle. Anyone have experience with either Prolong or Lucas oil stabilizer, that may be a contributing factor in my case.

CEL = Check engine light

Red oil pressure warning light = different light altogether
