just got back from the stealership...

anyway ill tell you what they told me... i was asking about how much it would cost to replace the rear VC gasket.. they priced me at 232 something... i also asked if bad spark plugs could make the KS throw a code.. he said no and he wouldn't even worry about the KS b/c it dosen't even trip the cel light.

i asked about a bpipe hanger and they are 15 something apeice..

A bad KS does throw a code, a silent code: the code is stored in the ECU, bit does not lit the check engine. A bad KS will rob power from your engine. Search the stickies, they are your friend. This issue has been debated and documented over and over

Can't a muffler shop make one for you?

He is right about the plugs and knock sensor.

He probably just told you not to worry about the knock sensor because it does not really hurt the car and 95% of maxima drivers out there would probably not notice the difference between a working knock sesnor and a non-working one. But I am still surprised he did not try and sell you one for $400 parts and labor.

rear VC gasket you should be able to do yourself. I changed mine on my 300ZX for pretty cheap, like $20 for the part.

And check your ECU codes, if you are consistently getting a KS code, check it for the proper resistence, and if out, replace the thing.

Another option you have is to just remove the cross piece. It's just a small piece of metal with two screws holding it on. if its making you crazy with the noise, just yank it off. I dont know how much mechanical difference it can have with your exhaust.
