Strut/spring assembly question..

I have this high pitched squeaking noise coming from my rear. I used to think it was the springs, but now that I changed out springs the same thing is going on.

My question is this: Could it be caused by missing "gaskets" in the rear assemblies? You know, the little red peices which go somewhere near the top on the assembly. I know pretty much for a fact I don't have them on my rear, one of them was missing from the first time I took apart my suspension, and the other wasn't put on the second time. Would the result of not having this "gasket" or whatever you'd call it be this horrible squeaking noise? It squeaks pretty much all the time at low to mid speeds.

Thanks for the help.

No, thats not causing your squeak. Those gaskets keep moisture from getting inside your trunk by sealing the top of the shock mount to the body of the car.

I dont know about that. If that red gasket is gone he could be getting some metal on metal contact which could be making that squeek...
