Wheel Ballance Problems?

I recently bought my '98 max and as part of the deal I had new 17" wheels and tyres fitted by a franchised and experienced tyre dealer. So far he has fitted 3 different sets of wheels and 4 different sets of tyres before finally getting them to ballance. But the only set of tyres they could get properly ballenced were noisy. I went back to have a better set fitted and they are shaking again. Can Maximas be particularly sensitive to ballance? Is there any other part of the drive train that can cause problems? eg drive shafts?

yes , maximas are very prone to balancing issues , especially ones with high miles

check your rotors for run out and wheel bearings might be a issue as well.
As far as drive axles - mine are original , with 145K and my car been shaking for over 2 years now, I have done every thing to get rid of the steering wheel shimmy and jutter , but with no luck.

I am repalcing inner tie rods next week , and i will be installing new driveaxles sometime in spring

Nick.

does it appear to be the same wheel everytime, or does it change?

And, as said before, check your rotors.

I have same problem since got car a year ago with 45000 miles; have some shaking on stering wheel even after balancing new tires. It seems like is a defect from factory. Somebody said changing pinion rack will fix that problem. I really hate that problem, rims are not bent thankgod, alignment, tie rods, etc.. are good.

Sometimes its the aftermarket rim itself sometimes they just don't balance well, whenever I throw on my stocks I have no issues.

It seems to be a balance senitivity issue. Not always the same wheel or wheels. have tried 2 different brands of after market wheels and 2 diferent brands of tyres - all in all 16 tyres and 12 rims (at the tyre company's expence than God) Anyway they are going to try again on Tuesday to get it right.
I certainly couldn't live with the shake.
