Hi everybody!
My Max doesn't want to downshift into first when I slow down and then 'easily' take off again. I thought that below 10mph it should go into 1st, but that's not the case. Even below 5mph it doesn't unless I really step on it. Is there an easy fix and/or will a Transgo kit help me with this problem?

mine does the same thing, all you need to do is take over drive off, make sure you turn it back on or your gas mileage will suck a$$.

They all do this.

It's a maxima auto trait. Rolling stops and it "slams" itself into 1st but only if you step to hard on the accelerator. Take it easy like a granny and the car will remain in 2nd and pull away eventually. Supposedly this has been fixed in the 2000 up models. Only a minor gripe considering the car's jewel of an engine.

my dad has a 2001 SE and his still takes a second to downshift but the lag is far less than my 95 SE, might i add that his pulls a hell of alot harder once it does downshift.

Thanks for the replys,
Since this is the 'norm', will a transgo kit help. Everything I've heard about it is that it makes for harder and faster upshifts, but what about the other way around?
Right now I've got the ignition switch tore apart trying to fix a bad contact. Can't start the engine without twisting and wiggling the key to make contact. If I fix it I'll let you all know so maybe I can help someone else with the same problem.
