Ok guys one of my head light bulbs burnt out today and I need to replace them. I want to replace them with something that looks cool. Like a blue color or something. Can i buy them at a local auto store and if so what should I go with. Thanks Richard

 

get hids...none of those blue bulbs can match up

 

Your local store should have them, or search online/ebay for them. Stay stock wattage or if you want a nice cool ricey blue, go with high wattage bulbs, but be sure to get upgraded headlight harnesses with them

 

ok dude ive been through lots of bulbs.....dont get a cheap blue or colored bulb...you wont be able to see anything in the rain and the beam pattern will suck.......what you want is a sylvania silverstar..they have these at any autozone or pepboys.....they last a long time....very very white...pure white light and a lot more brighter than stock.....you can see excellent in the rain to....you can get 2 for 40 bucks....and itll take you 1 min to install....cant beat it

No. Your beam pattern is according to the type of housing your have.

IE> HIDS in a 9004 housing will scatter the beam and blind oncoming drivers.

HIDS in a retrofit projected housing will project evenly, giving a nice line cutoff and avoid blinding drivers.

Crappy bulbs will burn out on you. IMO silverstars weren't great when i had them in, but those "cheap blue bulbs...Nokya bulbs" that i had were nice and bright.

i think what you're talking about is OUTPUT, not beam pattern.

 

Blue bulbs only look nice when looking at headlights but light output on the road is the worst, you hardly see anything plus way overpriced. I used to have Silverstars which lasted only 6 months, then Piaa xtreme white that lasted about 2 years but couldn't even see light in the road at all and every car with stock yellowish original bulbs had 2 times or more light on the road. So what I did was to get upgraded harness from ebay ntbk and convert to 9007 bulbs and now I have light on the road, the 9007 bulb is 55 watts while 9004 obly 45 watts, I just got regular Sylvania bulbs $10 each at Walmart. The HID kit won't work either, because you have lots of light all over except the road as per headlight reflectors weren't made for that and will be really hard to reaim lights and upcoming traffing will flash at you every 5 seconds and possible tickets as well. I am saving to retrofit into HID projectors.

 

silverstars blow quick when i had halogen i had these and they blew in 2 months, if you want to stay halogen then get a piia bulb or just stay with stock bulbs or wal-mart just normal old bulbs.

 

ummmmmmmm no....his put tons of light out. light does not in other direction but it lights up the road liek crazy....hid do work, and i will say very well. it might not be the most effiecnt use of hid but it works wonders and i will never go back to halogen. And if you aim them correctly you will not blind people to bad. I have had my kit on forever and once i aimed them i do not get flashed at all. projectors are the best way to go, but you are incorrect about hid.

what is with all these people saying that. One person said so they just copy everyone eles and say it to when they have no clue what the hell they are talking about

 

There are a lot of choices for bulbs and the more you pay the better quality the bulb will be. Its hard to have a really bright light without HID, but good luck with your decision.

 

stang - personally, I would do the 9007 conversion (see the FAQ), and then put Phillip Nighthawks in. They have the highest lumens for a standard bulb without having to spend hundreds on illegal HID kits. + you'll have your High/Low too.

HOWEVER, there is a nice HID group deal that offers high/low. Pretty nice and the color is spot on ~ 5000k (which has great lumens). Check it out in the group deal areas.

 

I couldn't see diddly with my old stock bulbs, so I put in some Sylvania XtraVisions. They are far better looking than the old yellowy ones, and are great at night and in the rain. They allow you too see the side of the road better too. Pretty cheap to boot. (about $17 for 2)

 

Get a set of Nokya's (Stage II) Arctic White bulbs. They last a long time (have had mine in for a year and they're still going). They are brighter than my stock bulbs (yes they light up the road better) and look really nice as well. The bulb is colored blue but the light they put out is very white. You can see a slight blue tint looking at them from an angle but otherwise the light is white. I did the 9007 conversion as well and now my car lights up the road almost as well as my dad's Lexus.
