Alternator wine Questions?

The infamous alternator whine is that heard all the time or when you turn off the car? When Turn off my Car I hear a whine fade out, it doesnt sounds like a vacuum leak, but now recently I hear it a bit when my RPMs drop pretty low (400).

I want to think it might be clutch/tranny related, because I'm going to order a 5th gen tranny and clutch next week, is this possibly a tranny problem? or alternator problem?

also that alternator test thing is take off the neg connection while the car is running? if it does alternator is bad?

Thanks

i'm not sure if i have the same problem but my car makes whining sounds when im accelerating and occasionally when my engine is idle. also, my engine has been idling at 900rpm ever since i got my o2 sensors changed at a mechanic. before that, it was idling a bit below 500rpm. anyone have any suggestions on what may be wrong?

I had the whining noise recently and it turned out to be dead alternator.
