What is the proper way a spring should sit? Should it have the tighter coils at the top or at the bottom? Reason being that I installed brand new springs with my illuminas. On the first one that was installed (rear driver side), I attempted to place the end of the spring with the tighter coils to the bottom, but it wouldnt sit well. It felt loose, as though it would fall off. I therefore inverted it, with the tighter coiled area to the top. On the rest of them however, I changed my mind, and placed the tighter coiled ends at the bottom. They seemed to fit better this way. But as I thought about it, I dont know which way the spring should sit. It makes some sense to place the tighter end at the top for rebounding reasons. Whats the proper way, and which way makes more sense?

Which way is that? I tried both ways for the front, and they seem to fit both ways. I have them with tight coils to the bottom. Which way should it be? Thanks man.

PS: I know its easier to observe which end has tighter coils on the rear than the front. I just thought of another way you might be able to answer for the front. Should the lettering be right way up or inverted? If you can still answer for the front the other way, please do.

letters should be up for front springs, trust me they only fit right one way ,
the closer coils should be on top , the bottom coil should seat in its perch on the strut
make sure the upper coils are seated properly in the rubber spring seat, otherwise you will have noises while turning

If the letting on the spring is upside down , the the spring is upside down.
The writing should be readable.

they both only go in one way look at it when yu position them on the perches and yull see which one fits perfectly

Thank you gentlemen. Lets hope I can still read the lettering. I'll change them tommorrow. At least it only takes me about 20mins on the rear, and about 45mins each on the fronts.
