What do i need for a PROPER suspension replacement?

I currently have a 95 max. I want to redo the suspension with new parts and do it all properly. Can you please let me know what i might need or what i might come across when installing a new set up? this is what i have found so far;

1. FSTB (bought and installed)
2. RSTB (bought and installed)
3. RSB (paid and awaiting delivery)
4. Springs (still deciding on which ones to go with. H&R or Sprint)
5. Struts (possibly Tockiko Illuminas)
6. Rear Strut Mount (will be ordering next pay day)
7. Strut Bearing (is the stock nissan one okay? or is there one that is better?)
8. Strut Boots (any suggestions here?)
9. ??????please fill in here?????????

thanks for the input,
MIXMAX

looks like your trying to redo everything huh? personally, i think you should have waited to do the springs/struts first, and then gotten all the bars afterwards. you might not like how it rides when its all done. i would suggest the h&r's over the sprints, and wouldnt even consider any other strut over the illumina's. i'm in the process of having my complete suspension changed also. i have kyb gr2's and cant wait to have them ripped out. illumias will be going in coupled with my h&r springs. ive just about bought enough to replace every part that can be replaced when doing springs/struts on my car, with the exception of solid metal items, and nuts. heres a list of everyting you can buy to make your suspension just about as new as it can get. the only factory part i didnt get is the rear mounts becase i bought the extended travel rear mounts from another orger. these are all the facorty part numbers:

(2) 54320-40u02 (front mounts)
(2) 54325-5v000 (strut bearings) (factory ones are better than the kyb ones)
(2) 54329-39u00 (paper insulator)
(2) 55338-0m000 (paper insulator)
(2) 54034-31u20 (rubber seat)
(2) 54034-85e10 (rubber seat)
(2) 55031-33p10 (rubber seat)
(2) 56217-61L10 (bushing)
(2) 56218-61L10 (bushing)
(2) 54034-31u01 (rubber seat)
(2) 55034-31u00 (rubber seat) (i am not sure if you use these with the extened travel rear mount, but i bought them anyway)
(2) kyb strut boot, part number sb108
(2) kyb strut boot, part number sb103 (these are better than the nissan)

the cheapest place to order the kyb strut boots is at speedycarparts.com @$15 each, and free shipping with orders over $50
the cheapest place to buy the illuminas is at performancepeddler.com. they come out to $408 shipped with the maxima.org discount.. just call them and tell them you belong to this forum
also i just announced in another thread, that warpspeed in now taking orders on their new sub-frame connector kits.. it comes out to about $237 for stage1 and 2 shipped if youd like to also look into those. ( im gonna order them after i have all this other stuff i just listed installed)
good luck, hope this helped ya..

just remembered, the extended travel rear mounts are being sold by MZMTG on the org. you can pm him if your intrested in them. they restore about an inch of shock travel in the rear suspension for lowered cars. they cost about $80..

Thanks for the info, but I could not find the KYB dust boots on speedycarparts.com. They are not listed under "suspension" and it will not let me do a general search. Any ideas?

get the tokico illumina suspension kit, it is being sold on ebay for 515 shipped and includes illumina 5 way adjustables and tokico springs, which are comparable in ride quality to the H&R's. I just installed mine a month ago and absolutely love the ride

the way i look at it, if your gonna pay 430ish for illuminas, why not pay 85 bucks more and get really good quality springs that ride very well and yield a perfectly even drop? my 2 cents...

I would get them from these guys: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...cfm?siteid=840

Part Number: 5432040u02 STRUT MOUNT, Maxima 1995 - 1997 $30.53
Part Number: 543255v000 STRUT BEARING, Pathfinder - 2WD, PATHFINDER 1996-03 1996 - 2004 $23.96
Part Number: 5432939u00 Spacer Spacer Back 2003 - 2004 $7.22
Part Number: 553380m000 Seal Seal Back 1995 - 1998 $14.87
Part Number: 5403431u20 Spring seat - Lower Lower Back 2000 - 2003 $9.20
Part Number: 5403485e10 SEAL-RUBBER,FRO $6.55
Part Number: 5503133p10 SEAL-RUBBER,FRO $5.43
Part Number: 5621761L10 Bushing - Upper Upper Back 1995 - 1999 $1.85
Part Number: 5621861L10 Bushing - Lower Lower Back 1995 - 1999 $2.42
Part Number: 5403431u01 Spring seat - Lower Lower Back 1995 - 1999 $9.17
Part Number: 5503431u00 Upper spring seat UPPER SPRING SEAT, Maxima - BEAM SUSPENSION 1995 - 1999 $8.16

Those prices are per part so total them and double if it's for both sides. So far I've found these guys to have great prices.

I am confused though. You said the prices from your dealer added to $353. The list you gave totalled $233.

the total i got was $353.26 and thats from adding these prices

(2) 54325-5v000 (strut bearings) (factory ones are better than the kyb ones)$44.09 x 2 ($44.09 they said was for 1 only)
(2) 54329-39u00 (paper insulator)$13.29 x 2
(2) 55338-0m000 (paper insulator)$27.37 x 2
(2) 54034-31u20 (rubber seat)$16.93 x 2
(2) 54034-85e10 (rubber seat)$12.05 x 2
(2) 55031-33p10 (rubber seat)$17.36 x 2
(2) 56217-61L10 (bushing)$5.88 x 2
(2) 56218-61L10 (bushing)$7.76 x 2
(2) 54034-31u01 (rubber seat)$16.88 x 2
(2) 55034-31u00 (rubber seat) (i am not sure if you use these with the extened travel rear mount, but i bought them anyway)$15.01 x 2

i called them up today and told them what i was planning on doing and the parts guy said just do the strut boots all around($17.00 x 4) and the strut bearings all around($22.00 x 4). so i don't know what i'ma do yet until i take off the old stock suspension and see .

you really dont need to replace the mounts unless they are in bad shape

and to save some more money, just trace and cut out the old paper isolator things on a sheet of gasket paper and use those

Thanks for the info on all of the bushings and stuff needed. I am not about to take my suspension apart again unless I have problems, but if I do then I might buy some of this stuff.

I would suggest the Lower tie bar from Matt Blehm too. It is supposed to really complement the RSB.

Anything that you can replace with ES polyurethane bushings instead of the OEM then I would do that. I did and I love it. My car handles a lot better now.

www.supension.com
cattman also has a deal on them.

You brought up an 8 year old thread and are asking a guy a question who hasn't logged in since 2007 Look at the dates before you go bumping old threads...

It is a pet peeve around here.

You can reuse the old mounts unless they are broken.

You also need new dust boots. I'm going to tell you this and you won't listen and will be back on here asking why you can't get your struts back together or why they bottom out... Get the oem or you will have fitment problems. Yes, they are way more expensive but do it.

That should be all you need.

Find threads by using the forum SEARCH tool. There are soooooo many threads, u can spend hrs reading and would get lots of knowledge.

That being sd, do a Search on my sig. I have a suspension thread. Do a search on Sudz too.

Get rear bushings and tubing wrap. you can reuse the mounts if they in decent shape. I just got new ones from autozone.
