5th gen vs. 4th genh

i was going home one day when I came across this stock 5th gen, I don't think it was a 5.5 but I didn't stand a chance against him...maybe it was because of the weight in my car or was it because they have more hp than mine??

uhmmm.....depending on what you have on your 4th gen. i took a 2001 maxima with intake, ypipe, exhaust with my 4th gen, intake, ypipe, exhaust, lightweight wheels, by at least a car from what i remember. oh yeah, he was an automatic. so depends.

You should beat a 5 gen with a 4 gen unless it is a 5.5 gen.

If it's on the highway, stock for stock, there's a good chance he'll take you. Off the line you can probably take him. But there's so many factors in it, it's hard to say (as with all street races).

sounds like a 5.5 gen that crushed you, i dont know what to look for on the cars to tell the difference either.

i was on the highway last week and about went toe to toe w/ a new 350z.the 3.5 is okay but a slightly modded 4th gen can still take one and should def. be able to hang w/ a 3.5 maxima considering the weight diffrence. i had someone else in the car too and we started about 60mph and by the time we hit 120mph i was only a carlength back. caesar could have taken it seeing how he is almost breakin into the 13's on n/a. i think i represented the max pretty well though...guy looked like he was going to poo himself when he saw me next to him at about 100mph.

(my 0.2 before they lock this thread up)

Silver tails give away a 5.5gen.

And IBTL.

Truth, that's definitely one race I wouldn't want to try unless somewhat boosted.

There's no reason why a 4th Gen with some exhaust upgrades couldn't hang with a 5th Gen on the highway. Hell I'd give it a go with my 95SE. It's a 5-speed with stock wheels, K&N panel air filter and Budget y-pipe and is low mileage and runs well. Maybe I'd need the extra 5hp from the B-pipe.

I haven't raced in donkey's years and there's a gazillion rice rockets where I'm from, lol!

Typically they (350Z) run 13.6-8 with a good driver stock .. seen it. So .. maybe the guys you race aren't very good drivers, nor in a closed environment such as a track ... too many variables otherwise

Thanks for the Moron comment ...

thats w/ a stick shift. coulda been an auto. and if you would read my whole quote instead of being an as5hole and only reading part of it you will see that i said i "about went toe to toe" and "got beat by a car length" so if you would pit a moded 4th gen against an auto 350z then it would make sense that would be the result you would get. like i said...think,breath and type.i dont need to lie about. been smoked by many cars but the 350z was not one of them.
