My max has 103k on it and it has that starter noise that i've seen a few people complaining about on the forum (sounds like a high pitched VEEEEEEK). I have absolutely no knowledge of mechanics and I dont like to touch anything under the hood...is this a problem that I need to tend to or is the only thing that I have to deal with the sound it makes? Will anything happen if I dont fix it?

take this to a DIY oriented. I did mine last weekend and VEEEEEK is gone. Very easy if you have basic tools and the grease ( which i got at walmart). It takes some patience once you start disassembling the starter but no biggie.
