bearing in before spring or after [trans]

hi, i accidentaly took the wrong bolt out to drain my trani fluid a week ago and as the oil poured out it also drained out a 1' spring and apperently a small bearing[havent seen the bearing yet]. if the bearing did come, then ill be able to find it in the oil. I know ive seen somebody else here that did the same exact thing as i did and a spring and single bearing came out. Did you just put it back in there?
i worry because i wont want to just shove the bearing in and then the spring, and have a bearing doing something bad in my transmission like jumping around. im guessing i put the bearing in first and then spring right?
Anybody know what to do?
"That is the detent (detant sp?) spring. There should have been a small meal ball that came out with the spring. It is the mechanism that keeps the shifter in gear"

Hopefully you only removed one of the detente ball/springs from the tranny case. The ball goes in first, then the spring, finally the bolt.

See page MT-13, top illustration.

Well it is the 1-2 shift rod detente, so when you put it back in, 1-2 should not be sloppy. It makes complete sense. You should be able to find it in the picture on the top of MT-13.

The 3rd gear thing is probably unrelated.
