Skyline VS 300ZX brake caliper BBK???

Hey Guys, does anyone know the difference between Skyline r33 and 300zx TT 30mm calipers? Looking to do this conversion, I heard the r33's caliper body is physically larger?? and I believe the rotor for it is narrower on the r33?

Nope. I believe they are the same. I'd to the 300z calipers. Parts available from almost any parts store.

actually the skyline calipers are a little bigger....not by much....i know this because my friend did a skyline upgrade on his 300zx tt....so i am thinking if u can get skyline calipers u may not have to machine down 300zx rotors....or not as much...and u would want r32 calipers

You don't need bigger calipers than the 300z. ESPECIALLY if you run the 13" cobra rotors.

Okay I did some research. The R32s are similar (if not the same as the 300z).

from tt.net:

Z32 280mm X 30mm
R32 GT-R 296mm X 32mm
R33/R34 GT-R 324mm X 30mm

The "Skyline" brake kit sold here in the USA is the R32 GT-R brakes. The R32 GT-R had 16" wheels just like the Z32, which is why their brakes will fit behind the stock Z32 wheels. The R33 and R34 GT-R used 17" and larger wheels, so they could use larger diameter rotors. As a side note, the R33 and R34 GT-Rs used 4 pot Brembo calipers, while the R32 GT-R and the Z32 both used Nissan (OEM) calipers.

Exactly, I'm not looking for anything physically bigger than the 300ZX calipers as I know there's already going to be clearance issues, it's just there seems to be a rash of Skyline calipers on ebay listing as 300zx Calipers!

Thanks to help from various people on the org especially Jeff92se & Automax, I'm trying to do some spade work so I don't screw up and buy something I can't use, I'd really like to go to the 13" rotor but I want to make sure I have proper clearance and if the R33 calipers are bigger that only compounds the problem. I'm still searching for a good deal on a set of 300zx TT calipers

I got mine from Centric Parts in Ca, brake parts warehouse. They were remanufactured & the cost was around $300, I also got patial core credit for my stock 96' Maxima calipers which took the overall cost of the 300ZX TTcalipers to around $220.

Will the stock Maxima caliper brackets be compatable with the 300zx caliper?

I'm sure he'll care, given that he posted 04-17-2005.
