Muffler Question

Hey, im about to purchase a muffler, trying to decide between two, the choices i have are a Magnaflow SS Muffler and DYNOMAX style "CLONE" Q' Muffler, i dont really want to have a really loud car, but i heard the magnaflow is a little louder than stock, which of these two are going to give me the best performance, and is either one of them going to make the bee's in a can sound? When purchasing a muffler do i want to stay with a single tip, or twin tip, or doesnt it make a difference? Thanks for any input.

Can't help you on sound, but for the tips I would say you should get a single tip, unless you get the bumper cut so the dual tips would look nice...

Q-clone is a chambered muffler while most Magnaflow SS mufflers are a straight-through design.

all after market mufflers too loud imo. If you have to get a new muffler get a stock one, especially if you have a y pipe, it will be very loud on an aftermarket muffler with a y pipe. Aftermarket muffers only give you like 3 hp max anyhow.

The mufflers themselves may be loud, but that's what resonators are for. If you plan on going with a custom exhaust setup I'd recommend using the largest resonator that will fit. That is if you want to keep it quiet.

I have an inexpensive ($70 compared to most) otto racing muffler and it is pretty quiet, I don't have a y pipe or anything like that yet, and you can only hear it maybe from 1000 to 2500 rpms, after that its almost mute. Also single wall and double wall make a difference, double wall will be quieter.

I've actually been looking at this exhaust for a while. Magnaflow Race Series. I'd perfer this based solely on the size of the inlet (3" as opposed to the 2.25" on the Street Series). To compensate for the noise due to the straight throught design I will add as many/big a resonator as I can.

So basically the Clone Q muffler will be a lot more quiet than the Magnaflow muffler? and also does anyone know who makes good headers, at a reasonable price?
