moaning sound whenever I make sharp turns

Perhaps your tire is rubbing against the inner fender liner. Did you get larger rims/tires lately??
If it is a clicking sound, CV joints would be suspect. Also, are you referring to a rubbing sound, or the normal hissing sound the power steering pump makes at full lock?

Every so often, when I make sharp turns(steering wheel at full lock), I hear an moaning sound. It goes away as I straighten out and it does'nt always happen. Can anyone help?

Please make this test. With the engine idling but the car at rest, turn the steering wheel to full left lock, wait 3 seconds, then full right lock, wait three seconds. If you hear the moaning during this test, the sound is from the power steering and is of no importance.

It's not the tires that show signs of rubbing. It will be the inner fender liner (plastic) that will show some scuff marks. I get some very slight rubbing on my car but it is very insignificant. Didn't even notice it until my mechanic pointed it out to me. It doesn't bother me, since I can't hear it anyways.

Thanxs. I tried the test and there is no moaning sound. It only happens when I'm moving and not all the time. Also, the tires that came with the car are 225/60R-15. This is wider than stock 95 GXE, but the tires show no signs of rubbing. What else could it be? Again, thanx for your help.

My dads 95 Taurus makes a moaning sound when turning also. It comes from the rear and we suspect a wheel bearing failure. Allthough we have not taken off the hub to check it out, it does not have the symptoms of being bad. Loose, woobbly when the car is raised and the tire is moved about. ]Is your noise from front or rear?
