My 1999 Max has 161,xxx on the clock and I was wondering if I should do anything with the EGR valve. I took apart an intake plenum on a 1994 Ford police car and the EGR channel into the plenum was packed with crud. The Ford has 160,xxx miles on it so I started wondering about my Max. She runs like a champ so I don't want to mess up a good thing. I have owned it since new and take very good care of her.

Has anyone here replaced their EGR valve? How do you know its time to clean or replace it.

If it broke, don't fix it..When you get Cel for EGR, then you'll know.
