Bose Troubles

I know this belongs in Audio section, but im not getting any help there and im stuck.

I took out my bose cd player, that was semi-working fine, put in a new pioneer HU with a scoshe adapter.

I get power to the pioneer fine, but NO sound at all, no hiss even. I bypassed the scoshe and still no sound at all.

I tried to put back in my bose, and I cant get it to even power on now, AND my security light blinks like a heart attack when the bose is plugged in.

I think I have a short somewhere on the Nissan side of the wire harness? What the hell can I do to fix this? I never tore any wires out of the dash, I cant see what can go wrong.

check the bose or audio fuse, red to red yellow to yellow tape up the grounds on the harness and ground the black wire from the hu straight to the chasis. make sure you match up the colored speaker wires right

MAKE SURE that all wires are connected-if you're using the BOSE speakers, remember that they EACH have an AMP so the REMOTE AMP power wire MUST be connected-I had the same thing happen to me when I installed my HU..as far as not getting sound. I never had any other issues ...good luck...oh and ub the DUH dept., make sure the adapter pots are TURNED UP!!!

Grounding Question

People are saying the wire harness does not have a ground. I clearly see one black wire on each of the two harnesses. Are you saying I cant connect my HU ground to either or both of these black wires? And thus i would be grounding the HU directly to the chassis?

Im not very experienced, but I think....

The amp trigger goes to the amp trigger on your head unit, its a blue wire.
The illumination I dont think you use.

the illumination wire goes to itslef on the harness.

you could run the remote wire to the audio fuse on the accessory

I'm not familiar with the brand name you mention, but here are some BASIC assumptions. MOST of the wiring is pretty standard, so the WHITE wire should USUALLY always be LEFT FRONT SPEAKER (POSITIVE). So, first, match up colors.
Now, on the Scoshe adaptor:
RED= Ignition Switched
YELLOW= Constant 12V
BLUE/BLUE White= Amp Remote TURN ON/Power Antenna (This is the one that will make your speakers work. Again, if you have the BOSE speakers, each speaker has it's OWN AMP, so this wire is what will turn them ON. No current, no sound).
BLACK= GROUND.
The head unit should also have a ground so there are TWO grounds that you MUST find a place for. I found a nut on the brackets behind where the HU would go and I put both grounds there.
By the way, even with the Bose HU, I had some electrical interference (whine). It's only a LITTLE more with my new HU. In other words, not enough noise to make me want to tear it apart again.
My illumination wire IS connected, but the dimmer does not affect the display of the HU. This is the only thing I wish I could fix, especially while driving at night, but since I can actually turn the display on the HU OFF, it's not a big deal to me.
Hope this helps.

It may depend on what Bose HU you have. Looks like some had TWO connector and some had ONE. Either way, the power for the BOSE hu is on that CONNECTOR. There's no separate power wire or cord FROM the BOSE. I would also say it would be very unusual for an aftermarket HU to NOT have an amp turn on. IF your aftermarket HU has separate LINE OUTs, it SHOULD by definition, have a remote AMP turn on. Why have line outs on an HU (which would be for a separate amp0 but not provide the wire to turn that amp on? No one would wantto have their amp on all the time. Check your wiring again. They may have a different name for it....
This site has good info on Bose HU's

He is using a signal gain adaptor for the Bose speakers - not a problem here.
