Jerky Braking

Under normal breaking (when coming to a complete stop) my maxima starts getting really jerky. The last couple of feet of braking it seems like the brakes are slipping and catching.

I replaced my breaks about a month ago with oem 350z, so I dont think it could be that. I was thinking it could be my rotors, what should I look for? They probably just need to be resurfaced, anyone have similair problems. Thanks!

Does your pedal pulsate? If so, your rotors are warped.

I'd say the best thing you could do is try to get your rotors resurfaced first. It's good to do even if it doesnt fix the problem. The shop will also tell you if it was warped or not. Check fluid level and double check that the rotors are on flush with the axle. When i had my rotors cut down last week, i found that i had to have someone bang the rotor into place while i held it in place!

Yah its probably the rotors, just wanted to make sure. Brake pedal doesnt pulsate.

Should I get new rotors or just have them resurfaced? 100K on them.

If they have never been cut, you might be able to get more life out of them with just a resurface. New rotors will get you another 100K miles of worry free service. You can get new blank rotors for around 40 bucks while a resurface runs about 8 bucks/rotor.

I had the same prob about 6 months ago. I had to get some of the rotors replaced, but some were able to be resurfaced. now it brakes just fine.

Rotors on my car are the orginal...

The brakes are pretty much are the same except for some reason the 350z ones had the the metal pieces that let you know that your brakes are worn down on both of them. While the maxima ones only had them on just one. Go figure!
