Antenna relocation: VW style

I will be shaving the antenna off and relocating it to the roof w/the VW setup. Looks like the vw antenna came with a long coaxial cable as well. Should the stock antenna cable be fished up into the roof or vice versa?

personally i'd say check out bimmer antennas. they look more like shark fins, but only look good body color. the VW style is a sweet idea, i might have to bite. dont know if i want to go to all the work of shaving the existing one though

Is there anyway the xm antennas would work for regular radio signal? i dont know what this shark fin is you guys are talkin about but something as small as the xm nub would be cool, i've been wanting to shave my antenna for a while.

Nismotic,

YOu should be able to fish the cable up there. I'm not sure the compatiblity of the cables though, so you would have to find a way to couple them together and still have the antenna be efficient.

from speaking to Max4speed himself, he advises me it is only a coaxial cable, but i understand what you're saying. Hope it works.

2004 Tl Xm??

yeah, a shaved body would look so much better than the current antenna. is there any way that the XM type of antenna from a 2004 TL would work? I love it on a car in my neighborhood. I think it looks a bit better than the beemer fin IMO

Cardana24 shaved his antenna and relocated it to his roof. I asked him about it a while ago when i was thinking of doing it. He told me that he doesn't get good reception and he had to drill a hole in the roof to run the cables through. Here is a pic of his car.
