Y-pipe is finally on!
Finally got that bad boy on. Man, did my car get loud, but it sounds soooo good. Had to get a new O2 sensor though which sucked, the old one wouldn't budge. Still have yet to take my car out for a spirited drive to see what it did, but i'll post back tomorrow on it. Just wanted to express my excitement.

i know i know, i'll get pics within the next couple days. I have a universal Magnaflow can on the back, and teh y-pipe is a budget i purchased from joosdawg. And yes, the sound is very beastly. i'm deciding whether or not i like it that loud. in the future i'll probably get an SP catback to quiet it down a bit. I took it out for a run tonight, definately feels like it pulls harder in mid to high. the only things that are bothering me right now is that i still can't break 120mph with everything in shape (new airfilter, plugs, etc.). And i can also hear this buzz/rattle coming from the pipe under acceleration. i'm gonna have to take it back to the shop tomorrow maybe and see what's going on with that noise.

A32Matt did you install the y-pip yourself?
I am planning on picking one up but don’t know how difficult the install job is?
If you installed it yourself... any pointers? and if you had the shop install it what did they charge you?

no, i didn't install it myself. i tried, but where the pipe attaches to the cat was so corroded, i couldn't even get a socket on it...so i just took it to a muffler shop right by my work. the O2 sensor was just seized in there from the carbon, heat, salt from the road, etc., i just had the guy get a new one and throw it on. The shop charged me $90 labor, and $120 for the O2 sensor.

yeah, since mine was a '95 and being in the Salt Belt, all of my bolts and nuts were corroded beyond belief. Plus, i really couldn't do anything under the car because i was trying to work on it on a steep hill and i couldn't get the car high enough without the jack tipping over.

warpspeed is only $160 shipped? I was gonna get the budget, but is the warpspeed worth it if only $160? Which should I get? based on fitment and quality? Also, has anyone paired the Budget y-pipe with the Budget B-pipe? is it a good combination, or is there something better for a decent price? I'm kinda on a budget, hahaha!

Sup guys, I also just recently had my new budget y-pipe installed ! So yea, the installation process was a brutal pain !!! Like everyone says, the two bolts that connect to the cat are just impossible. I ended up having to take down the whole setup just so i can break them free. Got some new stainless M10 bolts from home depot and slapped them on. This way in the near future, it won't be to difficult to take off. The heat, salt, rust, and corrosion make it nearly impossible to take off clean. Not to mention other factors like the limited amount of room you have without a lift like the shops have. I got the budget because it was stainless steel. Chicago winters are brutal

To hell with Y-pipe installs with hand tools. This is the single most difficult thing that I have ever even attempted to do with a car (and I've done A LOT of stuff). The two bastard *** bolts at the cat took forever, and then a had a hell of a time with the 3 at the beginning of the Y-Pipe. I finally got everything out, but the damn Y-pipe won't come down. It's so rusty that I cannot seperate it from the cat. =(

I just put mine in a week ago. The two cat bolts were a pain but with patience and alot od wd-40 they eventually came off. I thought the hardest bolt to remove was the left bolt on the read down pipe. That took forever cuz I suck with universal joints. Anyways I get the same buzzing/static sound you are talking about. Anyone know what that is? Its kind of annoying. Also there was this metal ring attached to one of the cat bolts (kinda like a washer but with a wire attached to it). Whats this for cuz I broke mine. : (

hmm I just brute forced that sucker . Cut the heads off of the bolts and then drilled through them. Then heated up the joint between the cat and the y-pipe and beat off the y-pipe... I was fairly pissed at the time and this actually cuased me to have to replace the stock exhast becuase the joint broke on the B pipe that is over the rear beam from all my shananigans.
And A32 Matt I have a similar magnaflow muffler and yes it sounds beastly.. just have to quiet it down a little more with a bigger resonator. Also you might enjoy the y-pipe even more after a couple of miles becuase it seems on some cars the ecu learns how to utilize it better or some wierd mind trick happens that makes it seem like you go even faster.

i had my y pipe on without a resonated cat back, and omg was that thing beast. It was cool for like 5 minutes, and the next day i put a resonator on. I installed mine with handtools, took like 1.5 hours. DRENCH the bolts with pb blaster the night before, do it over and over again. i live in wisconsin, the winters here suck. but i didnt break any bolts. you should be fine if you prep it properly.

It's a ground. A cable goes from it and is attached to the chassis of the car.

I installed my Warpspeed Y a few weeks ago( stock cat-back). A pain to get in, broke both bolts that connect to the cat and had to get em drilled out and replaced at an exhaust shop($30). Sounds good, a nice purr at idle, on revs I can't really hear it over my intake, no bees sound that I've noticed. Performance wise- a very noticable power gain. Go with Warpspeed, they're good quality steel and welds, and save the extra $ for another mod. Don't payt the extra cash for a name...

I believe thats a ground wire. I started to loosen my bolts tonight and noticed that also. The bolts on the manifold was simple and easy and after I loosened them slightly, I sprayed 'liquid wrench' on them and retighten them, but not torque them. The cat was tightly on there, but I sprayed 'liquid wrench' and tapped it with hammer and applied it again. I let it sit for about 10 mins and went to work. I had to use my legs to push the rachet just to at least get the bolt to move. Once it did, It still required a man hand to screw out. I applied liquid wrench again and tighten them, but not torque them. All in preparation for tomorrow.

You have to call them, as they don't have an internet order system.

screw wd-40, PB blaster and liquid wrench are your friends. WD-40 is just a lubricant doesn't really break anything down
