if you peel out on just dirt under both wheels, if only one spins, NOPE. From what I've heard,,, Our cars don't have an LSD at all. With an LSD you will pull evenly and solidly no pull to either side.

Look at your VIN #.

The transaxle code will tell you. That is mine, and I do not have LSD.

I can't remember what the code for LSD is, but somehere here does. But if it looks like mine, chances are no.

I have LSD but my car was imported for the Canadian market. My understanding is that I will be less prone to the infamous differential-bearing problem that plagues Maxima manual transmissions. I only have coming up to 58K on the car and recently had the transaxle fluid replaced for the 1st time. I digress, lol! I don't believe 98 Maximas for the US market came with LSD. For some reason Canadian cars for 95 didn't come with the plate shown above. I confirmed I had LSD with the stealership. It was not an option, it just came with the car.

in that pic, that car is not a 99. Is an automatic without LSD, has no side impact air bags, Is an SE. Right?

Yes, if your TRANS. AXLE code is either an auto with REF04V or a stick with RS5F50V you have a VLSD

yes it is at the end. no US Market 4th Gen Maxima ever came with LSD.
however if you have a Canadian Model (SE only i believe) 4th gen, you will have it.
and if you have a a32 I30 then you will have LSD also. LSD isnt great for 1/4 mile. it actually slows you down from launching.

Do you know why? Theoretically is should boost acceleration.... well, perhaps only on loose terrain.... There's no additional weight with one is there? or not anything big...

Well I have LSD and could care less about the 1/4 mile. Been there done that and got the T-shirt from the muscle car days in the 60s. If I had all the rubber back that I left on the road back then I wouldn't have to buy new tires soon, lol!

The Canadian 99 ES model has it too. That's what I have. I haven't checked any codes for a "V" at all but my manager at work has the same model as me and he told me we both have it.
