Nice what year is that? Give us details? What kind of modding did you have to do to fit it in there? Is it bolt and go? Or what? What is replaced and whats not?

What does a short block cost? The stock heads will bolt up correct?

Off of a 3.0 block, you reuse the oil pan, timing covers, timing chain, sprockets, water pump, ps pump, a/c, alternator, and water pipe(?)

From the 3.5 you use the heads, block, and cams. The cams have to be drilled, and a set of JWT spacers is required.

Everything bolts up.

The entire 3.5 was $775 shipped. The stock heads will bolt up, but are inferior to the 3.5 heads, which will also work, with some modifying to the cams.

Just curious but is there going to be a hood clearance issue? Maybe not while the car is sitting there but what about WOT when the engine might have the chance to rock some?

Just looks close in the pic.

I was thinking the same thing with the hood clearance, maybe it's jsut because yours isn't 100% done, but it looks close, probably an optical illusion .

I criticize many mods on here because I believe some of them suck. This, however, is truly awesome. I have a lot of respect for you and what you're attempting to do. 3.5 in a 4th gen is simply amazing. Let me know how it turns out.

Question: what about the tranny...will it be 6-spd? If so, how will it fit?

Nice nismo. I have gotten my cams back but the 3.5 is not fully back together yet because I suck (The tranny is bolted to the 3.5, though). I had to take the f*cker back out when I changed my plan

To the people who asked about hood clearance; Hood will close, but do not attempt to put a Front Strut Bar on it. I had a Cattman FSB and it was missing 1-2 inches on each side to bolt up (It would it on the 2002 Intake Manifold), so I had to send it back to Cattman to get a refund.

BTW, Nismo, what mods have you done while you were doing this swap? I did headers, cat, exhaust, CAI, engine bay paint job (Grrr... ) motor mounts, RSB, and clutch (clutchnet 6-puck). You're not keeping the stock clutch, are you?

^^ The only mods I did during the swap were fill the motor mounts, and clean up the engine bay a little bit. I have an Exedy clutch, we'll see how long that lasts. \

BTW: I want your headers and clutch.

Yeah they're Cattman headers. Beautiful, didn't know if I was gonna install them on my car or hang them on my wall... I'll tell you how they sound once the damn thing is running (Next week, hopefully).

There was a Hotshot headers group deal for 469$ if I am not mistaken... headers give like 25whp on a VQ35... might be worth checking out. They are a ***** to install when you have to take out rusted manifolds.

i am liking this alot. more people are joining the vq35 in a 4th gen club. but its weird though that my car was exactly the same just like yours. the color is called ruby pearl but i didnt like it so i repainted the car to brickyard. did you start the engine yet or no? keep us updated man.

^^ At least it's possible, not as easy as some would like, but easy enough to have multiple members doing it.

hey nismo..

which headers are you going to use.. VQ30 or VQ35?? also will the VQ30 motor mounts bolt up to the VQ35 block or do you have to use the VQ35 motor mounts?? also why is that you can see into the intake manny from the passenger side? the throttle boy mounts on the driver side right?

So is it possible to use 4th gen cattman headers on a 3.5 motor? I have them and I don't want to get rid of them when I eventually do the swap.
