HELP please! clutch problem
Wattup Yall,
I drive a 96 I30t 5sp. I was driving my car yesterday, till I noticed that it was getting harder and harder to shift into gear, and then a little ways down the road, when I came to a stop, i wasnt even able to shift it into gear. Couldnt even force it in without it grinding. Before it gave out all the way, it felt like the clutch was not releasing all the way. I just got a new Exedy Stage 1 put in not more than 20K miles ago, and the clutch never slipped on me since I had it replaced. What do you guys think the problem can be? Do i just need to have the clutch adjusted, is it the clutch master cyclinder/hydraulic (thing), or did I just f* up my clutch? I've been driving stick ever since I got a car, so I dont think it could have been caused by me riding the clutch, or dumping the clutch. I drive my car hard, but not stupid. Any help much appreciated, if its something I can do I can save some $$$. Thanks yall....

Did you replace the clutch slave cylinder along with the new clutch?
I have found that when the clutch assembly is replaced, it sometimes will overwhelm the old slave cylinder, causing it to leak.
Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder.
Also, peel back the slave cylinder dust boot and see if it is full of fluid, which of course it should not be.

Does it go into gear w/the engine off?
If not, you have problems other than your clutch. As for your clutch slipping, did you break it in properly? If not, you may have glazed the disk.

it does go into gear with the engine off, it just sounds like a metal on metal noise almost when I push the clutch in w/the engine on. Just feels like the clutch is not disengaging properly. I may be wrong. Ah.anywho.. bloody... i think ill just have to take it to a mechanic cauz i need to get back to school, and Im stuck in LA. thanks for the help
