Tripped up by the trip odometer

I love electronic timing and counting devices that have no battery backup!

I am in the middle of a gas mileage check (where I fill up my tank and reset the trip odometer) when I decided to clean the terminals on my battery. Now I know that I will lose the correct time and that my preset radio buttons will also be gone, but the electronic trip odometers, too???

Why couldn't they have a backup like the main electronic odometer?

It got me thinking -- what happens if the main odometer goes on the fritz? Is that even possible?

I guess you'll just have to fill up your gas tank and start all over again. Don't forget to set your trip odometer, lol!
