EGR System woes

The EGR valve has been replaced along with the EGRC solenoid valve. I thought I had it licked until last night. The freakin' check engine light went on again. Checked the codes and the same 2 codes came up, P0400 and P0325. They were the same 2 that came up before I replaced the EGRC solenoid valve. The Chilton's manual lists the EGR canister control solenoid valve as one of the possibilities along with the EGRC-BPT valve. I thought the EGRC solenoid valve was the same thing?? Looking at the EGR system diagrams on this site, the only canister control valve listed is the EVAP canister purge control valve and that is listed 2x. Is this a misprint or are there really 2 of these valves?? What's the next part to be replaced?? I'm half tempted to take it to the dealer and have them fix it so the if the check engine light goes on again, I can check the codes, and if it's EGR related, I can take it back and complain that the same problem came back!!!

Looking at the other EGR diagrams, I now see that there are 3 EVAP canister purge control valves. There are 2 located near the firewall, one of which is the EVAP canister PURGE VOLUME control valve and the other is a EVAP canister purge control valve. The 3rd looks like it's located near the EGRC solenoid valve. This 3rd one is also a EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve. Which one is the culprit???

Egrc-Bpt valve is a different part to Egrc solenoid valve, When I had EGR problems I was fed up, I ended up going to the dealer. They ended up replacing EGRC-BPT valve and Egrc solenoid valve and my problem went away...Check the diagram below.

I think I confused you guys. What I meant to say was that I thought the EGRC solenoid valvle was the same as the EVAP control solenoid.

That link you posted for that diagram is what I've been using to locate the EVAP valves. Look at the 2 near the firewall and the other one near the EGRC solenoid valve. Is the EVAP Canister PURGE VOLUME Control Solenoid Valve the one I need to replace???

You need to replace EGR solenoid valve located near the entrance of KS location.
To take this sucker off it's just one 10mm (IIRC) nut underneath. A small wrench will do that.

Knight,
If you are referring to the EGRC Solenoid valve, I already replaced that about 3 weeks ago.

PS. I just checked my PMs. See my previous post.

Don't take it to stealership just yet, next thing on your EGR problem list should be EGRC-bpt valve., try replacing this 1st b4 you take it to the dealer., if Error code still remains, just take it off and return it.

jobell,

Do you or anyone happen to have the Nissan part number for the Egrc-solenoid valve you recently bought? The green one that blocks access to the knock sensor. I think I found an online source that has a better price.

BTW, there are at least two other valves that look similar ( it think they are brown and black) in that general area that are mounted vertically.
Thanks in advance

How easy is that EGR-BPT valve to access and replace?? I know where it is and it looks like a b*tch to get to. 2nd, how much is the part??

If the error comes back after replacing the EGR-BPT valve, you're saying to return it to the dealer?? As what defective or it didn't fix the problem??

So if the EGR-BPT doesn't fix it, then what?? The EVAP canister purge volume control valve??

Hey Joecraps,
I paid $75 for that part at a dealer. I didn't bother removing the 10mm nut that holds it underneath. That nut is a real pain to get to. You'll see when you start working on it. I just removed the 3 vacuum hoses and the electrical connector from the old valve and cut longer lengths of new vacuum hose. I replaced the old vacuum hoses with the longer ones and just used cable ties to mount the valve to another larger hose that was close by. Good luck.
