Hello-

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or knows works arounds for these problems. I have the standard CD/Cassette stereo system (not the Bose unfortunately).

1)The problem I am having is this: Whenever I put in a burned CDR of music, the CD player plays the tracks perfectly.. up untill about track 10. On or after track 10, the CD player emits loud bursts of static like it is having problems reading the CD. The CD Player eventually errors out and I have to turn off the stereo and turn it back on in order to play a CD again. This happens regardless of whether the CDR is old or brand new and just burned that day. However, with any store bought CD (not CDR) These problem don't occur, or don't occur until you reach tracks in the high teens.

The difficult part is the fact that a track that played perfectly or poorly the first time, may play completely differently the next time.

At first I thought it had to do with the fact that some older car stereos were known to have problems with burned CDs, but that wouldn't explain why it can play upto about track 10 perfectly but then have problems after that.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, how did they remedy it?

2)The other question I have is this: How difficult is it to tighten up the mountings for the interior door trim. Both of my doors experience low vibrations and rattles when I have the stereo playing a song with slightly more bass. The speakers themselves are fine, no blow-outs or potential blow-outs.

This is not a major issue, it is just an annoyance in what otherwise is the most quiet car I have ever owned. I would just like to get rid of these last few squeaks, rattles, and vibrations to make it perfect. I know the Maxima interior trim has a history of being on the noisy side though.

Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Dan

From my understanding the cd player from the inner part of the disc to the outer edge.
Possible there might be something loose or blocking the laser movements when it gets to the outer edge of the cd or cd-r. Take a flashlight and try to see inside if you can or have not done this first.

Second is the fact that sometimes it play poorly from the beginning, this would seem to be a laser problem or a the drive motor, but I don't know what you mean by playing poorly. Slow like or distortion. Have you cleaned the cd player yet?

I would not be so concerned with the track number as much as the playing time, being that a cd holds up to 74 minutes of music.

I would see if it is a track number problem or a time issue.
Make or buy a cd with a lot of short songs or sound effects
I have a great cd of military sound, there is well a a lot of tracks 50 or so if not more. And of coarse watch the running time too see witch is causing your problem.

2)The other question you will have to wait till someone that has had the door panels apart. I have been luck so far I have not had to remove mine yet. But maybe some sound insulating mat'l might help.

Dont know what the maxima is like, but in my 97 I30, there are plastic "cups" that you grab to close your door. I found out that those would rattle with bass from the door speakers since they were loose. had the dealer take them out (simple, only one screw holds it down, which is why they are loose) and pack thick adhesive foam into there. When they put them back in, the noises were gone...but now I got rattles from the window switch wood trim plates which are soon to be replaced!
