* What brand of aftermarket HID bulbs did you get?
* How long did it take for the wires to melt?
* Did you replace your harness with the stock one? If so, definitely get the higher powered upgrade available from many sources (just look at the Maxima.org aftermarket links).

Hi. The first ones were KEY, and the second set I dont remember. I think the melting would start when I would go from low to high beam and then back. The lights were bought from a perfprmance store so i think they were of decent quality.

Gary95...just wanted to clarify if you have aftermarket HIDs or if you have the HID look-alike bulbs in your car. I wanted to get the aftermarket HID kit (not the stupid bulbs) for my car, but I hear that the 9004 bulb filament is horizontal to your car's firewall (if you visualize this, you will know what I am talkign about), as opposed to an H4 low beam filament which is a 90 degree rotation of this (filament is perpendicular to your car's firewall). Since the light pattern and reflector assembly are made for the horizontal filament, the HID kit light bulb will reflect horribly into people's eyes, and not produce efficient lighting. Is this true according to your experience...and also, you have any pics of your car with the lights on? (havent checked your profile yet...will do so) thanx

After driving with these for the past month, I have to say that they're a real bargain. I've had no trouble with my wiring harness (did a temperature test on the lamp glass too), and they light up the road better than the stock bulbs even in wet weather.
As far as reflecting in the eyes of oncoming traffic, I never get flashed. I did a test of standing in front of the car at about 300 feet, first with low beams and then with high beams. Low beams were not blinding. Bright, but not more so than the headlights of BMWs and Audis. So, I think this was $25 well spent. So far. Who knows--if they end up fading in a few months, I'll probably go with PIAA bulbs and an upgraded wiring harness.
