? for those with ACT clutch
My new 99 supposedly had an ACT put in at 55k and it now has 77k. Last owner claims its always been shaky when the clutch is slowly let out....but it is ROUGH AS HELL!! He said he had redline fluid in it originally, but at his 60k tuneup they probably changed the fluid back to OEM nissan fluid, and it became rough again.
Has anyone had this problem? I do a lot of city driving so the clutch is drivin me nuts!! It's not slipping, but it chatters an insane amount. Is the solution as simple as new fluid?

That is just how a aftermarket clutch that will hold alot of power is. Fluid won't make a differnece. Try reving a bit higher when your engaging the clutch. I get some chatter with my ClutchNet clutch, but if I rev to 2K when engaging the clutch I is perfectly smooth.

Unfortunately it was either not broken in properly, or the flywheel wasn't prepped properly. Have your motor mounts checked - they can flex around too much and make chatter feel worse.

I do the same thing Mike does. I have the ACT Street/Strip and a Fidanza. I just rev it a little higher than I did with a stock clutch and every thing is fine. Also I put in Poly motor mounts and that did help out some.

:EDIT: Shot motor mounts have more to do with severe chatter than most people think...

Then again he had the clutch and the stillen lightened flywheel installed at the same time so the flywheel surface was perfect. But when the flywheel, disk, and PP are seated perfectly there is NO chatter but there might be a slight groaning noise as its engaging.
