suspension question
Hey , i need advice im pretty sure i want the kyb gr-2 bcuz i cant save that much money for illuminas . now the question is what r the best springs for the shocks i want prolly 70/30 confort / performance .

the illuminas are comparble to the kyb agx's, and the gr-2 is comparable to the tokico hp blue strut, the illumina and the gr2 are totally diff class type of struts and diff in price one is a adjustabel damper one is jsut not

So I'd say don't discount the Eibachs just because someone says don't get them without justification. As I've never tried H&R's I cannot comment on them.

He said not eibachs bcuz i asked what would be good paired up with kyb gr-2's u have illuminas any spring goes good with illuminas but the question is what springs r a good combo for gr-2 that offer good a 70/30 confort level

Exactly he wnated more comfort, I love my eibachs vut with a bias of 70% comfort 30% handling ... well Eibachs are known to be a bit rough. And with gr-2's, I thinmk H&R's would provide what he's desired.

Progress are the ebst IMO for both handling/comfort, but you seem to want more comfort, and the Maxspeeds are comporable to the H&R's, I've been in Maximas with stock struts riding on eibachs, sprints, progress, H&R's and the H&R;s are softest, never been on maxpeeds but have read tehy;re simialr. And also the gr2's are a stock replacement, maybe a smidge stiffer, so me riding on all those choices + stock struts = almost dead on comparison ... this is all IMO and my exp.

H&R springs ride the best.
Save your money for a set of Illuminas if your looking for at least 70% comfort on a lowered setup.
Is "prolly" a word?

What's your take using GR-2s with Tein H-techs?

That's my exact setup. GR2s and Tein H-techs. The ride is firm, but not excessively harsh because the H-tech springs aren't super stiff. It will be fimrer than the stock SE suspension, but not excessively so. So you'd get some better handling (not as good as illuminas paired with Eibachs or another performance spring), but it won't hurt your @ss when driving over bumps!
If you are on a serious budget, I'd stick with GR2s for your strut. Nothing is cheaper and they are decent.
For you spring, H&R and H-techs should be equally good. I like the drop I get with the H-techs. They give the car a very natural stance. Can't speak for the drop with the H&Rs.

just for the record... i had h&r's and gr2's in my car .. if i were to try and perform a "bounce test", i could take both my hands, and push down on one corner of my car, while i threw my weight on it too, and the car would BARELY move.. gr2's are by far, no question, "the worst" strut in terms of comfort. anyone that thinks otherwise, never had a good set of struts in their car.

Well, we each have our own baseline for comparison. My struts were DEAD when I replaced them with GR2's. So compared to dead, they were fantastic. Firm, but didn't break my @ss. Buy yeah, I was comparing to dead struts as opposed to brand new illuminas or something else.
Also, your springs have a lot to do with the comfort of your ride. For instance, H-tech springs are progressive. That means that coils are different sizes. Some will give in with a smaller amount of force, others need lots of force to move much. That means they will absorb the impact of smaller bumps, but not bottom out when you hit a big pot hole.
Also, I'm not certain that the "bounce test" is a good indication of the kind of movement you want to see in your strut. When your car comes down upon a pot hole at speed, that's probably a few thousand pounds of impact (add the forward impact plus the weight of that portion of the car). That would be difficult to replicate by hand.
Lastly, we all have different standards of comfort. I prefer a stiffer, sportier, ride. Even if it means I feel the road imperfections a bit more. If you want a cushy ride, stock GLE struts and springs are the way to go. If you want a stiffer than stock SE ride, GR2's and H-techs (or progress or H&R) will get you there. That setup is harsher than stock (as you have noticed), but milder than most sportier setups.
Thanks for the input! Good to have multiple opinions so people get the best information!
