How does a dead KS feel like?

My car's coilpack cylinder #5 went out so I changed that. The CEL is gone which what used to be Ignition Signal Circuit & Knock Sensor. But the car still shakes and the engine's making a sound which sounds like constant clicks. Could the bad coilpack have put out my Knock Sensor? I changed it like 50000 miles ago. What does the car's acceleration feel like when the knock sensor is out? Right now, my car vibrates when I accelerate from 0-3000 rpm, and it's slow. It doesn't feel like it's running on six cylinders. Please, for those who have had a problem with the knock sensor, help me. I don't want to buy one if that isn't the problem. Thank You.

Ironically I was just going to put a similar post up.

I have a "cylinder 6 misfire" probably due to a coil. I've driven it about 500 miles since the SES light came on, but today it was driving rough...definite loss of power, louder sound, and at one point I noticed a smell....then I stepped on it a little more...the SES blinked for about 10 seconds, then the car drove completely fine.

IS THIS NORMAL? I have to drive 120 miles tomorrow and I don't think I can even get the car checked before monday...so I don't know if its gonna damage the car to drive it that far!! Any help is much appreciated.

Nope it's not normal. cylinder misfire and ignition signal is different. cylinder misfire means that the actual cylinder is pretty much dead and you need to get that fixed. coil is just the coil. they're two different parts, my friend. I had this problem too. BUT they do feel the same. The car shakes and it feels slow.

you are wrong, the cylinder 6 misfire, is most likely the coilpacks, the coil is what controls your sparks, and if the coilpack is misfunctioning, than that specific cylinder will have a misfire in it.

since his car is a 99 it is like 99% the coil pack that is causing the problem. my car had a cylinder 3 misfire, i replaced that coilpack, and my engine was fine.

Most likely it is the coil pack for the 99's. It seams to be the most common defect for that year. You might want to go to a junk yard and pick up a coil pack from a 97.

When my KS was bad I would feel some hesitation. It was very noticeable when I would take off at a steady pace. I could feel the hesitation for a slight second here and there. The car did not vibrate though.

they charged me $30 to see what the problem was and they charged me ten bucks for labor and since my mechanic gets the part for about $10 cheaper than I do, I just had him do it for me. But I still don't know what the problem is.

Dead KS feels like you're driving a 4-cylinder, non-VTEC, 3-speed automatic, 3,000lb Honda Civic. And I agree with everyone else; your coil pack needs replacing.

usually when you hit the gas the car peels out, but with a bad ks, the car just sputters. werd like a honda in the rain onlytime you can do a burnout
