starter, if you see some black smoke comming out the tail pipe after starting then good chance tis starter.

When was the last time you did a tune up?

ignition switch or the starter. My problem was the ignition switch. When my buddie's starter died, it just died. No more cranking.

It could be any number of things. How does it sound as it's cranking? Also, have you done the basic "tune up" type maintenance: fuel filter, spark plugs, fluids, etc?

Do you get cranking at all? If so, try looking for codes - it might also be a crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor. I had to pull the key and re-try when my CmPS was failing.

Have you done a tune up lately? This might be a good place to start. It does sound like the starter. One advise if your car ever stops working take a big wrench and point the end on the starter than wack it a couple of times with a hammer. This will shake the $**t out of the starter to work. Good luck
