Chrome window trim

Since my car was getting a complete KH3 makeover, i told them to get rid of ALL chrome on my car (handles, keyhole). They were able to paint the door handles bodycolor and paint the keyholes black. But they weren't able to get rid of that damn chrome window trim the GXE's were cursed with. I did a search and found only a few options.

Painting it, but it would eventually come off.

Taping it, but that would eventually come of as well.

What are my options? Is this piece avail. off a black SE? If i went with the taping option, what tape is used? Any pics?

(stupid chrome)

just go to one of the junkyards around the philly area and find an SE and I'm sure you can get the trim off of it for real cheap. Theres a bunch of junkyards around King of Prussia.

all stock GLE's have chrome trim around the windows, as far as I'm aware

I've been looking for a way to get rid of my chrome trim as well. I don't think there's any feasible way to take it off the windows unless you salvage 4 doors from an SE. I might try the tape option for now, as long as it doesn't look too ghetto. I just hate the thought of having a bunch of tape on my car

take elctrical tape or some sort of black vynal tape and tape over it. Do it just like the door pillars are.

Is the chrome really that bad to begin with. I dont mind it as much as everyone else. Looks fine with the door pillar body color mod on my sagemist. I think it adds balance to the whole color scheme with something shiny but not as terrible as ****ty wheel well chrom trim.
