Alternator help!! 96 SE maxima Brake and Battery light on

My brake light and battery light have been coming on and the volts have been spiking out to 17.5 when I drive on the inerstate and then get on the off ramp and the rpm's go down to idle, so I just had my Alternator rebuilt on my 96 se maxima and both my brake and battery light are on. I put a volt meter on it and it's putting out 15.4 volts. Since that I took it back to the shop and had the guy test it and look it over again. At his shop it puts out 14.4 volts. Then I re-intalled it in the car and it puts out 15.v volts. He says I have a bad wire that tells the Alternator when to charge. Can anyone shed some light on this deal. I really like to fix the problem and I don't want to take the Alternator back out. This is the 3rd alternator that I've had to put in the last 10k miles. Do I have a bad relay?

He said he replaced both the diodes and rectifier. And everthing else is good. What gets me is why would it put out 14.4 volts on his tester and it puts out 15.4 in my car?

I've checked that fuse along with all the other ones inside and under the hood. They are all good.

I tested it with a volt meter and test light the fuse is good. What gets me on this whole deal is the alternator was working fine @ idle before I had it rebuilt now that I got it back it's not working @ idle. My battery and brake light were not on before I had it rebuilt it was spiking when I drove for a long at high speeds then went down to idle. I'm about to pull all my hair out of my head. I also pulled the battery cables when the car was running , the car stayed running but died when I turned the headlights on. Now I did the same test on a honda almost the same year and it didn;t stall.
