Fahrenehit to Celsius

Is there a way to change the climate control to show the temp in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit?

On an Audi that I previously had I could switch it by pressing the recirculation button and the temp up (+) button. I can't find any combination to do it on the maxima.

BTW: It's a 1998 Se

Drive it to Canada. The display will change automatically when the outside temp switches to metric units.

But, it will switch back when you cross back to the US.

I can't say for the 4th gen, but I know on 3rd gens with auto climate control, if you ground a certain pin on the big connector, it will change to celsius. You could wire up a switch to do that if you wanted to.

Why do you want it in Celsius if you live in the US?

Conversion - Fahrenheit to Celsius = (f -32) x 0.56 eg. 68 Fahrenheit = 20 Celsius

As is the same with the 4th gen climate control, depending on which wire you ground changes the display from F to C.

So you mean there's two ground wires and depending which one is grounded that is the setting?

Further info on this would be great.

Thanks

Easier: If you just memorize that 68F = 20C then for every 9 change in Fahrenheit you get 5 change in Celsius.

77F = 25C
86F = 30C
50F = 10C

etc.

American military are allowed to bring US vehicles into Europe. We had one of the few Chevy II station wagons on the autobahn in 1966.

To have the celsius degree display, I believe that pin 14 on connector M98 is grounded. (Reference pages HA-90 and 91 of the FSM)

yep, that's what you need to do.

if you remove the center console and the auto-climate system, you will see 2 big connectors on the back.

The widest one is connector M98.

ground PIN 14.
