so i desperatly want to drop my car latly but im flat @ss broke. so anyway ive got a set of eibach springs sitting in my garage but they are cut to level out the drop, and im seriuosly debating throwing them onto my stock struts for the time being.

how long do you guys think till they blow all 4 struts?

how stupid would everyone consider this?

They will blow and your ride will be bouncy.

i tend to agree w/ you guys, but my friend has been running cut sprints on his stock shocks for about a year now i believe. (go figure) either way id eventually go to a "real" setup.

Cut Eibach's ?

Throw them in the trash, cut Eibach's don't even have enough spring to keep them seated in the perch when the car is jacked up. It's down right dangerous to drive around with those. Aside for the fact that the ride and handling will be horrable.

Spring mfg's design springs for ride, handling and safty, not to be cut to satisfy a drop (looks). If you want a slammed car, invest in coil overs and set the ride height you desire. Don't ruin springs by cutting them.

If you can't afford to mod properly, wait until you can. Don't compromise quality and (most importantly) safety.

desperately, lately, I've, seriously, until, suspension, I suggest saving your $$$ and going to your local junior high school and taking a course in English!!! Man, what a . j/k man. Just trying to get a couple of laughs. All in good fun. As far a your suspension goes, listen to the boys and wait and do it right and do it once.

Throw those eibachs away. It will be very dangerous for you to be riding on those. Save your money and do it right.

CUT? they come already level!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like junk, but as far as running stock struts with Eibachs I ran for over a year before I installed my Illumina's and the stock struts were fine and had 120k on them.

I've only ever heard of Sprints being cut in the rear...never Eibach. Listen to everyone else and wait. I had my springs 5 months before my shocks. It's worth the wait, and you only have to do it once...

If you're gonna go H&R and GR-2, it'll run you like $400. At that point, it might be best just to go with the Tokico HP suspension kit, which comes with Tokico Blues and matched springs. The jury is still out on whether GR-2s can handle any kind of drop without being bouncy and dying prematurely, so you might be better off just getting a package that the company knows will work together properly.

yo craig how many miles your car has on it? stock struts usually start to die out around 60 to 70k miles especially in NY. i mean your dustboots and shiet is probably all fawked up as well, i know mine were.

so lets see your going to take off the struts, compress that bich, then compress it again... its going to be too much work bro, unless you have air tools. but cut eibachs is a no no, i would put those biches on ebay.

My eibachs sit almost perfectly even. Not nearly uneven enough to waste them by cutting a coil. Even if I got the measuring tape out I doubt I would see anything over a 1/8 inch. Why would someone waste a $200+ spring that sits even? It is designed to be for performance not a huge drop, if he wanted a lower drop he should have gotten S techs or sprints. The sprints are a lot cheaper and a lot of people actually do cut those a tad.

http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?CuttingSprings

I would save up for a real suspension. I paid almost $700 for my new Eibachs, Illuminas, and bumpstops, etc. That is not including the ES bushings I bought. I probably should have waited for the D2 or ksport coilovers, but hindsight is always 20/20.
