All clear tails

I dont care what anybody says about trying to look like hondas or acura but I think that all clear tails on a max would look nice. I know they sell clear tails for the outside part of the light, but not for the trunk. Is there any way to take the trunk light out and custom make it clear??????
It has more to do with safety than with imitating other cars. I have never seen clear brake lights on a car that were even half as visible as red ones. As someone who got rear-ended and then spent the next year with a headache (plus the fact that my car will never be the same), I can tell you that you want to try as hard as you can to make sure no one hits you. Plus, if I had clear tails when I got hit, I'd be out 8-10 grand right now instead of State Farm, because they are illegal. Just food for thought.
To my knowledge no, but here is what you do.. order the set of outer clear tailights.. for the section left red in the inner-trunk part of the tailight, go down to your local sign shop, or the place where you order all of your stickers and get them to order you crystalline clear sticker.. then put a few layers of this, probably two over the red section and use a razor to cut it perfectly this will give the appearance of a clear tailight, but for alot cheaper.. i did this to my bumper lights and it looked great.. i have friends with 99 civics that have done this to clear the top portion of there tailights and it looks good too..
I agree with brandonj. Plus, YOU WILL get pulled over alot! A few months back, a guy on his way to court, got another ticket fot his clear lights. I think the half red, and half white look the best and they are much safer.

here's the deal
when looking at a car from the side, it needs to reflect red in the back and orange in the front. when looking from behing, it needs to reflect red. so that is why having clear housing is illegal flat out. the light issue is also true. what you can do is get the red LED 1156 bulbs and plug those in. they give a pure crystal red look so that it is a clear visible red not a dirty pink. what i'd do is leave them on all the time when you are driving, regardless of day or night. when you park, it'll be clear and you'll be ok.
but if you really want to make all clears, here is a way, but i in no way take responsibility if anything goes wrong or if you get a ticket or whatever.
1)get a heat gun and start heating the glue that holds the housing to the lense. once it's hot enought, pry it apart.
2)get some of that plastic sheeting that is used for drop ceiling lighting. make sure you get a really strong durable grade though. i know a guy who used plexi glass. you need to use the old lense as a guide. you can form the plastic in your oven. once you get an over lay, mark it off and trim.
3)get some strong *** adhesive and glue it on. make sure you seal it up really good.
that's sort of how you do it in a nut shell. you can use your imagination on how to actually do it. i made a set of clears for my taurus (yeah, that's right, a taurus) for the hell of it. there's actually a film spray you can get for $40 a can that will spray right on. just clear coat it and it looks phat. did that to my old truck.

umm..I vote no...
no no no...
all clear just means trouble....
putting red bulb will just make the ray pinkish..
remember you are trying to pass red ray through "clear plasti" that is actually whiteish
go figure red + white = ......
I want to have half red half clear
that is clean
but all clear...man that is bad.....

ok
red LED bulbs give a true red look. that's why they are LED's not regular glass housing bulbs. if you run with them on all the time, you should be ok because it'll be lit. but be warned, the moment you park your car and somebody hits you from behind or if you park it on the street and someone hits you, it's your fault because you do not have the proper reflectors. as for the plastic, any hardware store should sell it. just make sure it's strong enough to hold up to everyday wear and tear. no, the original pieces are colored plastic not clear plastic with red lining. that's why we can't mod our own tails but '97 to '99 can take out the yellow with a heat gun.

Clear Tail Lights
Do you have the pics of your taurus that you sprayed the clear film spray on? I would like to know how it looks. Where can I find the LED brake lights and how much would they cost? If Honda's and Acura's can use the clear tails and replace the bulbs with no problem, why can't I?

there's a white Maxima that goes to my skool and parks near my friends and i. he has the clear tails, but only the outer ones, they look SOOOOOOO ugly. its hella embarassing cause everyone sees it and laughs at me cause its another Maxima owner. its like the bad rep thing. Friends see that Max and then will think other Max's got bad tastes and stuff...
I don't get it, what's wrong with clear tail lights? I got clear tails on my '96 Maxima, so does this means I'm a riceboy? Just because some of you don't like how it looks doesn't mean it looks stupid. It's not like we are putting up double decker type wings on our Maximas, and with stickers all over the place. And I think clear tail lights are only available for the outer lights anyway. Personally, I think we Maxima owners are far from ricey as some Honda/Acura owners. We are quite classy IMO.

Oh and it's not about the looks... it's about safety... maybe you don't care, but I promise you, when some one nails you from behind and you have clears, you will get the ticket.

Well, if you think it's ugly, it's your opinion. As far as you know, someone might think your car is ugly. And as far as someone hitting me, I do have the red bulbs. No, they are not pinkish either. I don't know where the others get their bulbs, but my bulbs are really red. Unless you're blind, you could see them. So, what do you consider as non ugly? Stock? If clear tail lights are ugly, I guess you would consider people with clear corners ugly too, huh? Come on, it's just a matter of taste. Like I said, you might think clear tail lights are ugly, but someone might think that generally fixing up a Maxima is rather stupid. I know some people that said that before. Like the saying goes whatever floats your boat.
He didnt say that the bulbs were pinkish. He said that red bulbs+ clear or whitish tails = pinkish color giving off. I ve seen it too. on some cars you can barely see the red bulb or it is a pinkish color that the light gives off. They look good on some cars , but the max is a classy car, red/ clear is the way to go. If I had a 95 or higher max Id go with the red/ clear, unfortunately I have a 2nd gen.and they dont make applications for my car I even asked just to ask about a year ago. But its extremely rare to see the red/clear combination and it looks really great on all the Maximaz.

well true, its mainly personal taste, but if you only get OUTER clear...thats UGLY, no matter personal taste or not. YOu have part stock, part clear....might as well keep the orange sidemarker but clear blinker when you do your front clear bumper lights. See if that looks wack? at least clear out the whole trunk lid.
Well, I only have the outer clear because I think they're only available for the outer, nothing I can do. I know that some red bulbs + clear = pinkish. However, I don't know about the other people, but mine is really red. When I stepped on the brakes, my friend driving behind me told me it was really red, kind of like if I had the stock lights. Now I know why they costed so much. I don't know, maybe I will go the route of half red and half clear. Specially, if I get my kit.
I got behind a civic 4 door with clears and the only red I could see was from the brake light inside the back window.
He had two pieces of red reflector tape on the housings, I guess so he thinks it is legal or something. I eventually pulled up next to him and he had been hit on the back right side. Coincidence maybe. Stick with stock, red white combo or altezza for safety.

Anyoone Yet?
I have the clear outer tail lights on my 95 now. Has anyone tried to clear out the red piece of the inner tail light. I have had suggestions of forming a new clear piece and replacing it with the clear/red. Does anybody else have a better idea?????? If anybody has it or has pics can i see them
