It defintely isn't Illinois....though they don't really enforce it. I don't have one in the front....makes it easier for smokey to get a signal off your car with his radar gun.

I found out the last time I went to the registry in MA (for the max when I bought it) and was going to transfer my old plates... When the woman informed me that it was $5 cheaper to get new plates rather then pay all the transferring fees + taxes and crap.

I believe they're doing this so that they can get rid of the green plates, coaxing people into getting new plates by making it cheaper then transferring old plates.

but if you have the green plates, you only have to have that in the back right? where if you get the new plates you have to have it front and back?

Correct

MA is trying to get rid of the green plates by making it cheaper to get new ones rather then re-use the old ones... They are becoming a rarity rather quickly it seems

My mom still has a green set; if I ever have the extra money maybe I'll re-reg both our cars and get her plates possibly.

The reason you only need a plate in the back with green is because you only have one plate... they only issued one at that time

No front plates in GA. I think having it in the lower grill is a good option, doesn't take away from the lines of the car too much.

Mythbusters did experiments and found there is nothing you can do to try to reflect or absorb radar. They covered a car if aluminum foil and the radar was as accurate & fast as the uncovered car.

What about the rear license plate *lights*. Anyone else have a major problem getting the rusted screws out, to replace them?

What sucks is that you cannot apply too much pressure, because you'll just destroy the light housing/mount.

What's ironic, is that I got one screw out, from each light - which gives me no progress really.

Any suggestions before I go drilling or paying some unecessary fee?

OR and WA require them. Also, in WA, they have to be at the front of the car and between certain distances from the ground. It's variably enforced throughout the state.

No Front Plate In Kansas

Kansas doesn't require a front plate either - which leaves room for my Harley Davidson plate......

you may not be able to see it too well, but its there, and i haven't had any problems yet

i don't think it'll keep ya safe from laser, but if it does let me know!!

do those illegal radar jammers/blockers even work? probably no. and it sounds like police are going to change their radar frequencies or band or something that can't be blocked.

True..

But ArticW is probably should have said laser instead of radar.
When they use laser they need a reflective surface. We all now how reflective the plate is.
They can still go for the headlights or windshield.

HOTROD magazine (I'm dating myself here) did a test back in 93 when the new firechicken came out.
Being that it's headlights were hidden, they had a tough time picking it up on laser.

Mythbusters is AWESOME....Jamie is a wienie
