best way to remove 'stuck' bose HU

The screws literally will not budge. I went at them for 10 minutes with many different screwdrivers and there is no thread showing for any WD40 or anything.
Any suggestions for this sort of BS. System was almost in but happy Bose HU wouldn't get out

I'm with Loe Max, I had to take mine out just the other day while I was painting my dash and although I was able to do it with a screw driver I remember them being hex bolts, so a socket outa do it just fine

there is a thing called a screw extracter it is cheap you drill in to the screw and turn it with the extracter.

Get an impact screwdriver set. Sears will probably carry them. One nice shot with a hammer and they loosen just about any screw.

I played around with a screw driver and got 2 out, after 5 min of screwing around I gave up and let my drill do all the work.

Use a impact driver to remove the screws. At the time, I did not have one so what I did was use a dremel with a cutting wheel and cut the bolt/screw off. After this bracket was disconnected, I used a vise grip to unscrew the bolt/screw from the HU. Don't bother trying to save the bolts/screws because it seems that some kind of loc-tite is used to make the screws stay in place. That is why they are so hard to remove from the HU bracket.

these are the countersunk screws that hold the actual BOSE HU in the brackets. not the bolts that hold the entire assembly to the dash.

I have removed about a hundred of these brackets. Just get a power drill or ratchet set.... anything but a screwdriver....you need something to give you some leverage.

haha, they were hard but i just put some muscle into it and they popped out of that "lock" they seem to be sealed in. was pretty weird how tight they were though.

i'm pretty sure i can get the screws out for ya if u wanna send it to me, but u have to pay for shipping both ways..heh. i just got mine out yesterday when i put in head unit system n in dash flip out tv..-= )

this is what i did.

i sprayed wd-40, not too much. make sure ur hands are clean of no oil to get a grip. turn the unit sideways, use both hands making a fist. hold the screwdrive while the fist is made in whichever hand u write with. then the second hand over the fist to push down on. then basically put all ur weight down on the screw and turn. u might want someone to hold the unit so it doesn't move. if that is really tight, then just basically put all ur weight on it and tell ur friend to turn the unit itself since turning the unit is better than turning the screwdriver. it as a pain to get it off, but i actually did it in like 2 minutes...like all the orgers said, i have no clue why it was that freaking tight.
