more bite, without BBK?

Even with stock power I think the brakes are not a strong as they should be for the kind of speeds this car can reach.

Are there any options for upgrading braking performance that do not involve the BBK. I was thinking maybe bigger calipers/pads?

I want to keep my stock 16s and not spend much more than doing a regular brake job. The front pads are almost new so I just want to have some ideas before I eventually change those.

thanks in advance.

Tires will help a bunch, specially if you have abs.

Maybe stainless steel brake lines will give better feel...definitely get better tires too.

Better pads will make the most difference in pedal feel/bite.

On that topic, dont get metallic pads, they need more heat in them to stop well. Ceramic and organic pads generally have better cold bite.

i just replaced my brakes with new oem front calipers, PBR/axxis ultimates all around, and brembo OE blanks.

the difference from stock to this is remarkable. i attribute almost 100% to the pads

and like mzmtg said, i really notice the cold bite with these compared to stock

I have a 99 SE with ~62K miles. Just curious. Why did you have to replace your calipers? I just ordered the complete Brakes from Jason and now you have got me thinking whether I need new Calipers too.

I think that cold bite is what I am lookin for in a way. All around feel and sooner bite is really what I'm lookin for. I have Kumho Ecsta tires and they grip all the handling and acceleration I throw at them so I think they are pretty solid. I DO have ABS and boy it kind of scared me when it kicked in. More than likely one of the reasons I'm lookin for a minor upgrade!

Are the upgraded pads around OEM cost? They seem like a good option for me.
