WS Y-Pipe + APEXi Exhaust System =
= a FRIGGEN "loud exhaust" ticket!!
Never had a problem with my local cops near Palisades Park, Fort Lee, Edgewater, etc.. It was Bergen COUNTY cop that pulled me over on RT 4 on my way to a nice dinner with my girlfriend to TGIF. He made me come out of my car and pointed out these things...
1) Your exhaust is too loud.
2) You have too many aftermarket parts.
3) Your front lights are too bright. (I have those xenon hyper whites and brighter clearance lights, but my turn signals were luckly all orange, which aren't even close to being as bright as HIDs)
4) I was doing 55 on a 50mph zone!!

Alright so he told me to go back into my car and just gave me a ticket for "loud exhaust" and everything else he just said "change it" and took off..... like, WTF
It was one of those young cops that had nothing better to do but pull over people that "seems" to be "young" w/ "hooked up car" etc... and the thing is, my exhaust isn't even loud... Just wanted to vent.. share some of your stories if you wish.
PS: He wrote "unknown" for make/model of car. LOL

No offense intended, but your car looks like it would be a cop magnet. Chances are that he didn't even think your exhaust was that loud until he lifted his eyes to see a skyline bodykit. Chances are good that if a stock exterior Max had the same exhaust setup, he wouldn't have gotten pulled over.

WS exhaust is the quietest aftermarket exhast system available for our cars. I think BigLou hit the nail on the head. The more your exterior is modded (body kits, rims, stickers, etc.) the more likely a cop will pull you over. I'm not slamming your car but that's my general take on things after having read so many of these threads.

i would have to agree...but COPS ARE ****S...plain and simple. btw i have the ws2 and its the quietest thing, my injen is LOUDer...sorry to hear...but pretty much all what the cop siad is BS but i dunno NJ state laws....but hope all goes well.

Ive never really been harrassed (knock on wood) and my car sticks out like a sore thumb.
I used to run the Apexi WS catback with Budget Y and a straight pipe, The Apexi WS really is a mellow exhaust. My Greddy is a bit louder, but deeper.

despute the ticket.. if the exaust isnt really much louder then just go in, dispute the ticket and have someone listen to the car idle, they'll probably turn it around.
i say we all go oldschool, get 2 catbacks, one with glasspacks and one with the muffler and such of your choice. then throw a switch in the car (replace a coin holder) so we can have the sweet glasspack sound but turn it off to make the coppers stfu.
ok im done.. my dad told me a story about a butty of his who has a herse tricked out and fast as heck, with that system on it. he used to race it and never lost. and turned the loud exaust off to avoid cops.
