Sunroof help!
Sunroof help!
I drive a 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE. The sliding part of my sunroof that is the same color as the headliner and blocks out the sun has come off its track. It's very difficult to open and close and obstructs the sunroof. Has this ever happened to anyone else? How do I fix it?
The same thing happened to me. Open the sunroof enough to stick your head through it and you'll be able to see the problem. Once you do, you'll easily be able to snap the sliding part back into place.
Took me 2 minutes at the side of the road.

I won't break down removal and installation, b/c it's in the stickies. However, removing the headliner sucks, but is rather simple.
First, you must unsnap the body clips on all pillar covers. Then, remove dome light(lens and two screws). Then, remove sunroof control. Now, remove r/v mirror trim, mirror and visors(trim pieces and screws). Now, you must feel for and unsnap headliner clips(go around the edge feeling for tension). Finally, pull h/l towards front windshield to unclasp final clips. Now it will drop down. You shouldn't have to get it out of the vehicle to realign sunshade clips. He!!, you might be able to use nosispower's approach. I've never tried it. Anytime I was messing with sunshade, I already had h/l down for sunroof repair.
