Performance Ground Cables?

Has anybody out there ever installed a "performance" or aftermarket ground cable kit? To me, it seems like they could hardly make a difference but a buddy of mine with a 300zx TT swears by em. What are the advantages if any?Is it worth doin?

I did it, and the car shift's better, HID's got brighter, rpm are slightly lower.... some people claim it starts the car better, sound system's bass hits harder.....

they work, since the factory grounds are still covered in paint.

someone says you can make one yourself and pretty cheap, anybody know of a write up?

You could do it your self...I am sure its easy aslong as you clean the paint off and make sure that you have all the tools...

Takes about 10 minutes to install, best thing I noticed was better shifts with no more hesitation between 1st and 2nd. I have the Blemhco one and its made just for our engines to hide easily.

I had extra 4 gauge power wire from audio installs in the past, and my boy works at a place where they make the "o" rings for the cable.. I gave him all the cables and he put all the O rings on with heat shrink to cover them up well at no charge.... so the whole ground kit cost me nothing..

I picked up 30ft of 8 gauge and 10ft of 4 gauge already coated from Home Depot for about $12. Now i just have to run the cables.

No no no! a wire is not a wire! there are big differences between different gauges, strand counts, etc. You need a nice decently sized guage wire with a high strand count and a really good insulation, but this may still be a cheaper DIY than some of the Big name kits, and you can decide your wire quality. IMHO the Blehmco kit is better than the HKS and/or every other big name or generic (as they are all pretty much the same design).
