JWT ECU ... I went from 24-26, and now 26-28 ... Not sure if it will pay itself off during the summer, that depends on how many miles you put on it.

The regular maintenance aspects of enhancing engine performance have been rehashed a million times. Obviously there are a few simple things to do: tire inflation, air filter, consolidate short trips, don't use the car needlessly, eg walk to the corner store, and don't drive your car like you stole it.

Prius engine swap.

honestly...combine trips, refill gas @ night, and no hard acceleration.

I only put the don't drive it like you stole it notion out there because I'm constantly amazed by the posts I see where people drive 80+ on the highway and wonder why their gas mileage is crappy.

As far as mods are concerned, buy the turbonater, lol! j'k.

I think I get slightly better fuel economy with my K&N air filter, but probably not enough to justify its purchase cost. However, it does enhance my car's performance when combined with my stainless steel Budget y-pipe. I'm not sure if a y-pipe improves fuel economy, but mine is probably about 15 pounds lighter than the stock y-pipe, given that 2 pre-cats have been removed.

Another performance mod would be to go back to the OEM rims and tires. What do people expect when they go to 19" and 20" rims and lower-profile wider tires?

Tell u what. You can be the offfical org tester of varoius devices that claim to increase HP and MPG. Here is a short list of items you should put on your car. Be sure to keep complete records after each item is added - (dyno HP and average mpg):

1. Turbinator vortex
2. Gas line magnet - to "polarize gas molecules"
3. Split-Fire spark plugs
4. Prolong gas/ oil treatment
5. Slick 50
6. Water injection system
7. Nitrogen in your tires - my favorite!!
8. Electric super charger
9. Hack you air box and add a K&N filter - flame me.. I dare ya!

Sorry man.. couldn't help it! Take a look at the stickies. You are going to get this response here if you don't ask specific questions - broad "what if" type questions get people pissy round here.

Last summer I drove to Myrtle Beach from Ohio, averaged 85-95 MPH on the highway (tach ~3500-3700RPM) and I got 29.95 MPG (over 500 miles on the tank) on the trip home, and that is through mountains. You can drive fast, just maintain a constant speed

I also travel about 80-90 on highway trips and get about 28 mpg. Your speed isnt the cause of heavy fuel consumption.

Slick 50:
1. The teflon particles in slick 50 probably get filtered out after two or three passes through the oil filter.
2. The temperature at which teflon binds to metal far exceeds normal engine running temperature.

End of story...worthless product.

What does refilling gas at night have to do with gas mileage?

Less evaporation due to the heat in the daytime.
