From what I understand, it only extends the interval between replacing them. The recommended interval for replacing an OEM fuel filter is 30K. I'm not sure what you can get out of a 300zx filter or whether it costs any more.

I think the short answer is NO, when compared to just replacing with a new OEM filter.

oh ok so pretty much no added performance from it, but if you need to replace your fuel filter change it out for a 300zx fuel filter?

I suspect it depends on how much driving you do on an annual basis and whether you replace it yourself or pay to have someone install it. If you pay someone to install it then I say go for it. Personally I couldn't be bothered as I'm a low-mileage user. Also, since the 300ZX fuel filter is bigger, apparently its a little trickier to install.

I think it helps to have small hands.

read the stickies noob

personally, i wouldn't mess with the 300z filter....even with the longer change interval

why would you use any other fuel filter than the one designed for your car? Plus if you have ABS, i believe its next to impossible to install

They aren't as the 300zx filter is roughly 2x the size.
Aflood why would it matter if he used a 300 filter? So what if it isn't designed for the max, the inside of the filter is the same material. The ABS part of your post is BS as well.

They are refering to the 1981-198? Maxima. I got mine today from everythingnissan for 10.49.

The US/Canada chrat shows that it goes on the Cima (F50- VK45DE), 300ZX (Z32- VG30DETT/VG30DE), 200SX (S12- CA20E/CA18ET/VG30DE), 200SX (S110- Z22E/Z20E), Maxima (910- L24E), 280ZX (S130- L28E).

All of these models were production during the 80s except the Z32 and the Cima.

noooooooope.

I have ABS and had no prob what so ever.

If you are changing the fuel filter, get the 300zx. It costs the SAME $$ as the maxima filter and is twice the diameter ... it fits fine and no modifications required.

Why do this? So you have a larger filter which lasts longer.

Here are a couple of my pics when I did the fuel filter ... hopefully gives you guys a better idea:

I ended up buying both maxima and 300zx just in case ... here's a comparison:

300zx filter + tools I used:

zx filter sitting in the stock clamps ... no modifications, everything is fine:
